If you wanna go mainly on great postseason performance, then Jake Delhomme was elite too (up till 2008, anyway).

seems like every super bowl winning QB is temporarily among the leagues best or labeled "elite"

Exactly - by this rationale, Eli Manning was the best QB in the league only until Joe Flacco and the Ravens won the superbowl. If Colin Kaepernick and gang convert that 4th and goal and had hung on to win, then is he called the best QB in football? If that happens, is Flacco's "clutchness" questioned for not leading his team to any touchdowns in the 2nd half like Matt Ryan a couple of weeks ago?

A quarterback should always have confidence.

But realistically, do I put Flacco in the same category as Rodgers, Brees, Brady and the Mannings? No.

Yes, he's good, but he ain't that good.

flacco is perty good. he plays with alot of poise. he is a gifted thrower and he has as many rings as 3 of the 4 u mention, and he is only 27. there is alot to be said for being able to play in the big spotlight, and he has shown he can do that. dont forget he played well enough to get his team to 2 straight super bowls, but for the end zone drop in foxboro last year.

Never understood why people get their panties in a wad when players express self confidence. He isn't an analyst, his job isn't to give rational and accurate commentary on the relative attributes of the NFLs top QBs. His job is to be the best football player he can be, and to do that one needs to have an unwavering belief in themselves.
