What better way to help cover up a leak of who they would pick before who they did than to expose who they would have picked if who they did wasn't there.

That is why no one should care what poeple say I am sure Hurney had a least 5 choices and they lined up depending on who might or might not be there at #9. We weren't 'set' on anyone, and the players shouldn't be offended the #9 pick isn't a sure lock like 1,2 overall.

Cox was the worst of the defensive linemen, glad the coaches saw what I saw.

It's BPA philosophy, guess they felt Coples (DT) was the BPA after Kuechly.

"After"... being the key word...

"We're OK at DT" is all Hurney's suggestion.

It's BPA based on need. Are you saying if Andrew Luck were there, that we would have taken him #9 overall because he was BPA? It's not logical. I don't think OT or WR would be logical that high either. I don't feel like they were greater needs than LB/S/CB. When the talent is similar, then you don't draft the highest reated player, you draft the highest rated player based on need (if they are rated similarly).

For instance if we have Kalil rated 87, and Kuechly rated 86. Guess which player we are taking?

We'd take OT you don't pass up OT's in the draft with a high grade. You can always get stop-and-plug linebackers

My belief is that "need" is factored into a particular team's BPA. In other words "filling a need" has a numerical bonus that naturally bumps those players up the draft board.

Agreed. But, even if you don't want to acknowledge it, LB was a HUGE need.

I'm glad when didnt draft coples because about 50% of the people on here still can't spell his name. Which is baffling to me because it isn't that hard of a name to spell

No reason to take an OT when you already have 2 high quality OTs. The FO has said they want to give Otah one more chance to come back from injury. I guess that's where we differ.

if the panthers really think they're going to draft BPA in every round, they're likely never to pull the trigger on a defensive lineman. DL gets drafted early and often in this league now and even when they're high enough to avoid the huge run from 10-20 like this last draft they can't even convince themselves to pick one.

then again Ta'amu was one of the best values and arguably BPA in the 4th when they passed him up. How is it they continually find ways to avoid acquiring DTs with any kind of real potential or talent whether or not they're a great value in the draft? Ta'amu and Adams back to back would've been clutch. I miss when it was our deepest position and Kindal Moorehead was getting like 5 sacks.
