@josephperson
Interestingly, rookie Joe Adams currently the No. 3 punt returner, behind Armanti Edwards and Kealoha Pilares. ...

@josephperson
Other depth chart notables: Munnerlyn and Gamble ahead of Stanford and Butler at CB; Martin ahead of Nakamura at FS; Anderson over Clausen as No. 2 QB.

I doubt that sticks.

Remember, last year according to Rivera, Newton/Clausen was an actual camp battle. LOL. It's usually just to push guys, especially younger ones. Like we all knew Newton was the starter (unless you were one of those Cam haters, Clausen was too trash to win anything), we all know Adams will be the starter.

not really sure why. hangman had the day off. don't know who else would have had taken the reps there.

Thats just it. I know Hangman is the starter but never knew who the backup was. I think Pollack is our top reserve at both guard spots and center but since he was off today too, nice to see who was up next.

Piggy has the day off.

I know but its nice to see who our top reserve at Guard behind Pollack is. Roger Allen probably would not be many peoples first guess. I think its interesting because he could end up taking one of those last 4 roster spots.

lol...at that depth chart meaning anything. Rivera simply puts every rookie behind a vet that played last year.

We cut Wharton so there is no one for Rivera to play that game with

The depth chart absolutely means something. You think he just straws to see who goes in?

I have no idea what your talking about.

Our first string guards are Amini and Hangman with Pollack as the top reserve behind them. After that I had no clue who they saw as the next man in line and doubt anyone else did until we saw Roger Allen in today with Hangman and Pollack out.

The depth chart can and will likely change as preseason and camp goes on but as of right now Allen has the inside track at the backup guard spot.

Also he does not automatically put a rookie behind a vet that played last year, Josh Norman had already passed Munnerlyn.

Where he puts the rookies means nothing. Which are the players I was directly talking about. He puts the ones he knows will start behind the vet from last years rosters. Simple and plain.

Luke has run first team all camp, Adams isn't 3rd right now at PR either.

Where is the Oak kid we just got then on it?

Ron Rivers addressed it last year. That is the media depth chart. Not his depth chart.

This thread has been derailed enough by the Armanti talk and were not even on the same page anyway. I'm talking about the 4th guard on the team, who is not a rookie, so this rookie poo is irrelevant. But anyway not important enough to continue wasting thread space arguing over such petty poo with you.

The Panthers website depth chart has never been accurate. You might as well read a depth chart made by bleacher report.

Panthers release first depth chart of the preseason

SPARTANBURG

On Tuesday, the Carolina Panthers released their depth chart for the first time in the 2012 season and it held a few surprises.

First-round draft pick Luke Kuechly is not listed as a projected starter for Saturday's game against the Texans in Bank of America Stadium. Instead, the ACC's all-time leader in tackles is listed behind the eight-year veteran Thomas Davis at weakside linebacker.

Davis, who is recovering from a strained calf in the same leg on which he had three knee reconstructions, is listed as the starter. But Davis has not participated in pads with the team during training camp.

The lone rookie listed as a started is left guard Amini Silatolu, just ahead of the combo guard-center Jeff Byers.

In the secondary, Chris Gamble and Captain Munnerlyn are projected to start and will be backed up by Darius Butler and R.J. Stanford. Charles Godfrey is listed in front of Jonathan Nelson at strong safety and Sherrod Martin is in front of newly acquired Haruki Nakamura at free safety.

Brandon LaFell holds the No. 2 WR position after having a solid training camp thus far. He and Steve Smith will be immediately backed up by David Gettis, Seyi Ajirotutu and Armanti Edwards.

On special teams, 16-year veteran Olindo Mare gets the nod on the depth chart over Justin Medlock despite Medlock running with the first team at Tuesday's practice. Mare started last season, but Medlock has shown this training camp to have a longer leg.

Edwards and Kealoha Pilares look to be the main options for the return teams. Pilares is listed first and kickoff while Edwards is first on punt returns.

Click here for the full depth chart on the Panthers' official website.

How about just posting the link instead of posting the whole story in multiple threads
