Hypocrisy comes in different flavors.

Tearing down a political system that made you successful and famous is like Wallace Shawn cutting the rope on the cliff in The Princess Bride.

Plus, it makes any of his complaints about "the system" pretty damn hollow. Unless you have a taste for situational irony.

You're viewing this in the wrong way. You might have a point if you believe that Rage had a goal to be successful. Where as I view them as having used an existing platform as an avenue to forward a message and their monetary success was more of a side effect and one not necessarily sought.

So the music labels and million-dollar deals were a means to a class-eliminating end that restored the means of production to the rightful hands of the workers?

It's definitely a romantic selling point. Like ascending the ranks of the Italian mob just to tear it down from the inside.

It's still deliciously ironic, but in that framework, it's less hypocritical and more sinister.

What you fail to understand is most of us are very pro-capitalism.

Which is, of course, why we're anti Ryan.

I don't think one way or the other of anyone on this board.

I only judge the things you say and the arguments you present.

I couldn't care less what you identify as.

It's nice that you say that. Now if you could just show it.
