An unidentified man, who plead guilty to statutory rape of a 14-year-old girl in 2009 and got her pregnant, is now filing for visitation rights to see the toddler produced by the rape.
The man was sentenced to 16 years probation in 2011, reports the Daily Mail. Part of the probation required that he pay child support, however, that also entitles him to seek visitation rights.
The man met the 14-year-old girl at church and, later, had sex with her and got the teen pregnant. However, she was too young to legally consent to sex, reports Fox 25.
The victim’s mom told Fox 25: "She decided to keep her baby. And now she has to hand her baby over for a visit with her rapist?"
The teen's attorney Wendy Murphy told the NY Daily News that she asked the court to require the rapist pay restitution instead of child support, which would deny him access to the toddler.

So it was statutory rape, which implies consent despite the legal definition of "being able to consent". Unfortunately we do not know if this is a case of 18 has sex with 14yr old as the age of the offender isn't listed.

Anyhow, what say you Tinderbox compatriots - Should he be allowed to see his child?

It's idiotic that he's paying child support; in my view that lends legitimacy to it being "his child." He should be in prison, and the state should offer the support she needs.

It's not, other articles have more comments from the girl where she talks about how he forced her into it. Would she be fighting so hard against this if it were consensual?

And cyproterone acetate isn't sterilization, it simply kills sexual urges and is reversable.

He was sentenced to statutory rape, if it was non consensual and/or forced rape, it would have just been a rape charge and he would have been in prison. The statutory rape charge implies consent.

I suppose that could have just been part of a plea arrangement, but assuming that you were actually raped and pregnant from said rape, would you agree to offer a plea of statutory rape....it seems unlikely.

I think the girls comments are more a symptom of not wanting to give visitation rights (which very well could be parentally motivated), more so than indictments of the rape action.
