Although the numbers don't support it, I believe that this team is better than what was placed on the field than last year.

Through the first 5 weeks last year, we were 1-4 and were outscored 122 to 132 (-10)
Through the first 5 weeks this year, we are 1-4 and are outscored 92-125 (-33)

We didn't win our second game until week 7 and our third game until week 12 with the 4th win coming at week 13.

I definitely think we will get our 4th win before week 12. Our week 12 this year is our Monday night football against Philadelphia. Call me the optimist but I don't see why we cannot go 5-5 heading into week 12.

Despite all this team's shortcomings with inaccurate passes, dropped balls, bad ball protection, missed tackles, crappy safety play, questionable play calling., etc. This team is good enough to stay close in games and that to me gives me a lot of hope. Staying close is not the same as winning but damnit we're knocking right at the door. We were a few plays away from being 4-1.

100% get to 4 wins before week 12.

Ryan is a great player, but we sometimes forget that center is generally considered the least important of the offensive line positions.

We see tackles (often) and guards (occasionally) go in the first round but centers almost never go in the 1st. There were a couple in 2009, but overall for the last 10 years, there were fewer centers drafted than any position other than fullback.

We value Kalil because he's very good, but it shouldn't kill any team's chances because they lost their center.

Not really, defensively we haven't brought the same thing every week.....hasn't always worked but there is clear effort and you can see a defensive staff trying to figure out things.

Also, players have let the D down....they often have been out in position to make plays and failed. I got no issue with the D coaching this year.....they still are trying to work around big holes at S (which isn't easy) and have a rookie CB.

Two things good defenses have in common. Experience and strong S play. We are getting the first, but are lacking in the second. Which is why I think we go S early in next years draft. I just believe we are a strong FS from actually being pretty good.

On defense we are growing. Offense? Not so much. Which is why so many folks are frustrated. They just knew this team, with this offense, was headed places. It did not happen as planned, so they are upset.

We are 21 games in. We are better than we were in game 1. But we are no where near our ceiling.

Things sure have gone downhill fast. I don't want to be a pessimist but its gotten to the point where I won't believe the Panthers can win against a competent team until I see it. I hope I'm wrong but the only wins I see this team getting are against the Raiders and possibly the Chiefs. 3-13... please god let me be wrong.

Blame it on expectations. Or the Cam effect. Either way, it is going to get better around here. And soon. So just enjoy the ride And quit worrying about the bumps, they will diminish soon.
