The more I read about Chip Kelly the more I like him.

The 62 they put on the Trojans was impressive,
The 51 they gave up was not.
I have reservations as to the long term success Kelly might enjoy in the NFL.

I think what he has done at Oregon is nothing more than incredible. High powered offense and good mind. Then I am reminded of Chudz. The guy is an offensive wiz. Crappy at game time adjustments but an offensive wiz none the less. I like the idea that he uses mathematical statistics to make a decision. College is not the NFL. You give a team a short field they are going to exploit it. Next thing you know you are down 14 points and become one dimensional. In college you can get away with being down 2 or 3 scores and come back. Not so true in the NFL. Each position is filled with those college stars. You aren't playing 3 or 4 good guys you are playing 11 of them.

I will support the team no matter who they hire but I hope Kelly isn't our 1st choice.

I'm just hope we get a GM that makes the right choice. I don't envy his job.

I would be excited with a Chip Kelly hire...but I'd also be scared to death by it. I don't expect him to be a successful NFL coach whatsoever.

who we land as a GM will probably be a fair indicator of who we're likely to look at. until the options are narrowed accordingly it's a whole lot of conjecture and little more.

i'm intrigued by kelly's potential but i'm also pretty sure there's guys better qualified than him currently working in the NFL. more than likely we go after one of them.

No more college hipster crapola. No thank, no way, not happening. Will. Not. Work.

We need someone who is used to managing egos, not brats.

If I were to go the college route I would take a long look at Chris Petersen at Boise State.

He maximizes his talent.

He usually has a really good defense

And he runs what is at least somewhat like a pro offense, and it is very effective.

He has also has had success across many different QBs and QB styles.

He has some family issues that would make him hard to get out of Boise, but if I had to go the college route, this is the guy I would take a long hard look at.

note: Saban would be a good hire too but he is already getting paid top dollar at Alabama and as much as I like him as a coach I wouldn't want to spend the money it would take to get him.

I agree. I think I would take Nick Saban or David Shaw over Chip Kelly right now. A lot of people keeps talking about how good Kelly is though. I know his offense is kind of a gimmick type, but I don't think he will bring that to the NFL level. Most articles I have read says Kelly runs great practices and not to forget the Belichick endorsement. With that said, I still would love to have Saban or Shaw over Kelly. Kelly scares the poo out of me a little.
