If Hillary wants it, she'll easily get the nomination and very likely win the general election in a landslide.

I mean, even if Obama's 2nd term goes badly, Hillary has the trump card of saying that 1) she's more moderate than Obama, 2) she ran against him in '08, and 3) remember the 90's?

The only concern I can see for her is age. She will be about the same age as Reagan was in 1980, though, so it's entirely possible despite her age, but it could be an issue.

If she doesn't run, I really like Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer. He's about to be former Governor, having served 2 terms already, but he's leaving office as a democrat in a red state with a 60% approval rating. And despite that, he's not a DINO, if you will. He supports single-payer health care, gay marriage, and actually has really solid progressive credentials. He does oppose gun control, though, which could actually be a huge help in the general if he can survive the primaries and win the nomination. He received the NRA endorsement in 2008 when he ran for re-election.

Not to mention he also has probably the best record of any Governor in the country over the last 8 years.

Hillary would face two other challenges besides her age. One, could she get out the black vote the way Obama has? Probably not imo. And two, would the country decide its time for a change after 8 years of one party in the white house as they did after Clinton and Bush II?

The republicans are facing some major challenges regarding the demographic shifts, but they still have a window of opportunity to win for the next 8-12 years or so. Especially if someone like Rubio runs strong and gets the nomination.
