I'm just wondering and hopefully someone can tell me how many picks we'll be getting next year in 2013. Isnt it something like we could get "three" 1st next year with ours own pick, Blazers' pick, and Pistons' pick???
But believed Blazers is top 12 protected and Pistons' top 14? Can someone explain to me hot the proctected picks work???? Thanks

That is correct... Top 12 protected from Portland through 2015 and unprotected in 2016 - Meaning if Portland's draft pick is between 1-12 this year they keep it and the trade is not yet satisfied... If their draft pick is 13+ then the trade is satisfied as we receive whatever pick that is.
If the trade is not satisfied this year then it rolls to 2014, then 2015 if not satisfied. If portland has a top 12 pick in 2013, 2014, and 2015, then in 2016 we will get the portland pick no matter where they draft.
The Detroit pick works the same way...Top 14 protected in 2013, Top 8 protected in 2014, Top 1 protected in 2015, and unprotected in 2016....
The first year the pick is outside of the protected draft slots we get detroits pick and the trade is satisfied.

No Problem... We have the same sort of deal with Chicago except we are on the other side as we owe them a pick
2013 Top 12 protected, 2014 Top 10 protected, 2015 Top 8 Protected, 2016 Unprotected....
We also owe OKC a 2nd round pick this year (2013), and we may owe the spurs a 2016 2nd round pick.
