Do we keep McDermott...

61 posts in this topic

The defense has improved a great deal this year despite key injuries.

Over the past 5 weeks they are a top 10 defense.

Do we want to completely break up that scheme and unit and risk having an awful defense again?

If we keep McDermott would that help keep some continuity on the defense?

Same thing said about chud at the end of last season. New coach will probably bring in his guys.

Why do we blow up a defense that has shown constant improvement since its inception even with key injuries?

Id rather keep RR - I think hes the brain behind this D

Seriously - our D sucked last year with R s hands off approach - how good was mcderp in philly?

If a new GM hies a new coach there is no way they keep an old coordinator around. Especially one who's not been considered good

i'm torn between keeping him around and continuing the rapport he's developed with his defense vs. flushing the entire regime out and starting over. rivera and chud are clearly poison.

how much of the defense is actually run by mcdermott anyway? it seems like it was sort of implied that rivera took some control over it around the time we saw a sizable improvement. either way as touched on previously i think it's pretty much moot as a new GM is going to insist on his own guys.

How many games has our defense won for us? Who are the stars on this D?

Improvement from last year isnt saying much. We went from being doormats to solid occassionaly now we're the 85 bears?

    • This makes sense to a degree with one big BUT... It's clear we'll be changing up our offense quite a bit this season - both due to the need for "evolution" and because of all the new players on offense we have to integrate - especially CMC & Samuel.  So, Stew needs more reps than he would have needed last year just to get in a rhythm with the new guys... Otherwise what you write makes sense.
    • Already admitted i was wrong saying that, what I meant to write was he never learned to do it in college and makes it much easier to fall back into old habits in the pros. Was going back and edit that before I posted the thread and just forgot. And yes, every QB is going to be inaccurate at times, Cam is more inaccurate than the other top ten QBs, He just is, that's not his game,  didn't see anyone complaining about in 15. He makes up for it in other ways. And, no offense meant, didn't see a whole lot of Cam blaming in your post, actually, didn't see any. It was all someone else's fault. Cam has more difficult throws than many QBs because he frequently passes up easy throws for more difficult ones.
