why would you want to start derek anderson or jimmy clausen?

if we had a quarterback buried anywhere on our roster that could possibly be a good starter for us long-term i'd be all for an "open competition" or whatever. if cam can't defend his job that's his problem.
but our backups are derek anderson and jimmy clausen.
