It's a shame that someone like RG3 isn't allowed to be himself without being labeled fraudulent by racist bullies.

RG3 is the friendliest fug in the NFL. He doesn't even deserve to be made aware of such hateful comments.

i don't really like smith either, but that's not because of anything race related. i just despise sports radio and anyone associated with its propagation

Before I came to this forum I loved espn and sports radio but since I've been noticing it a lot. But I like Stephan A.'s politics or at least the way he views them but at least in sports he's one of the most realest ones. Can't stand skip bayless though

I believe it's an insult directed towards colored folk.

Not sure though.

For the record, "colored folk" isn't anywhere near appropriate either.

I don't know why this is an issue that needs to be brought up now. I think we all acknowledged pre-draft that RG3 was black, but his upbringing and what defines him as a person is not "urban" and was a big part in why he didn't face nearly the same scrutiny as Cam coming out of college (Cam also had the pay for play allegations and took a fat dump on the strongest division of college football with the most batshit crazy fans in the country - this didn't help him).

Urban should have been the term used in this argument. In poor inner cities you see white people, indian people, jews, people of all races and ethnicity who speak with slang and dress the way that is currently declared "black". This has been an ongoing issue within black communities since their civil rights protests in the '60s, whether they should accept the wholesome standard American lifestyle with an emphasis on education and working in a career, or if they should reject that and push city life. Most black athlete's come from an urban lifestyle and sometimes they carry some of it into their professional careers.

One big difference between RG3 and Cam is this urban life. Cam has experienced it (and i'm NOT saying he condones it in any way) and while whether or not he ever participated in it is up for debate, he has certainly been exposed to this culture. Let's face it, kids playing schoolyard ball in Detroit are going to look up to Cam more than they are to RG3. You can sense this in Cam by the way he talks and carries himself, but I think he does it in a good way. He shows kids that they can overcome this cycle of poverty and violence with hard work. RG3 hasn't tasted this culture. He spent little of his childhood in America and is from a strict military background. He doesn't know a thing about the different temptations of inner city life that keep many degenerates trapped, preventing them from ever having a sustainable career.

On a side-note, I don't think Kitty City or whatever should be perma banned. Yes the J word was bad, but he was making a legitimate point about Stephen Smith. Give him a stern warning and keep an eye on him. It really doesn't sound like he's a flaming racist here to troll the hell out of us.

I'm black and I understand what Rob was trying to say but he went to far when he basically called him an Uncle Tom. In these interviews RG3 does seem to alway want to disassociate himself with whom he is ..a running quarterback that happens to be black. He didn't want to be compared to Cam, he doesn't want to be known as a running qb but every chance he gets that exactly what hes doing, and he is always bringing up the race card. I don't agree with Rob using his soon to be wife ethnicity or his political stance as his evidence that hes not black enough but I could see what he saying. It not like what Cam said last year about not wanting to be Jamarcus Russell or Vince Young because that had to do more work ethnic.

Actually, Cam never said he didn't want to be like JR or VY. He simply felt that them not doing their part hurt the image of black QBs. Which I complete disagree with. It's the mindset that still exist where black QBs are either pitted against each other as in the case with RG III, Cam, Vicks. Or in the Case with Cam, stereotyped because of the failure of another black player, that is hurting the image of black QBs. Cam is being ridiculed on any and every ish is simply ridiculous.

I don't see anyone comparing any of todays white QBs to Ryan Leaf. It's like, he's was the exception to the rule. But players like VY and JR are par for the course for QBs like Cam and RG III. And, I don't see Luck even in the same conversation as their other chosen QB from 2011, Blaine Gabbert.

As I said before, the sports media intentionally lumping Cam into the catagory with other failed black QBs because it's the mindset that still exist today.. The only difference between RG III and Cam is the way in which the sports folks choose to portray their images. One of them will be invited to hang with the sports crew when he's forced into early retirement and the other will still be mocked and scorned at every turn when he's forced to become a back-up QB because it's still an easy thing to do in this time and age with QBs like RG and Cam.

When it's all said and done, both QBs still have to prove themselves when the Lucks of the world either get a free pass or have tons of excuses made for their weaknesses. One just doesn't have to do it as much as the other because he's image is not as threatening.

Why is Bob so loved and Cam so hated?

Is it because being around them you can tell the major difference?
