we're still competitive. almost every team we lost to we gave them a run for the money. if we had a staff that knew how to finish games consistently we might have been more than competitive, and by that i mean winning.

pretty much everything broke our way in 2008 except for the playoff game and kasay's field goal against the giants which was the opposite of what happened this season.

we got away with the raiders game, a very questionable no-overturn on a steve smith touchdown that swung the momentum toward us when we were down against the cardinals at home, of course the low-probability game winning touchdown catch against the chargers, surviving what was a damn-near massive chokejob against the saints with the division on the line in week 17, etc. i'm sure there are others.

7/27 72 yds 1 TD 4 INT

To Jake's credit that was the year he really started to drop off and The Raiders DB's were ridiculous.

IIRC, the next week jake had an even worse game. Then we played the Broncos and had like 250 yards and 3 TDs by halftime.

NFL spokesman Joe Browne said the issue is one of a handful that remain from a 1996 suit by the Raiders listing multiple grievances against the league. Some were transferred to courts in Los Angeles, where another Raiders case against the league is being fought.

Others already have been dismissed by Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge John Herlihy. He did not rule Tuesday on the Raiders' efforts to seek a court order against the NFL banning those uniforms in California.

Papers filed by the Raiders in the San Jose case say the Buccaneers' logo "is likely to dilute the distinctive quality of the Raiders' mark, thereby lessening its capacity to identify the Raiders and causing irreparable harm that cannot adequately be compensated by an award of damages."

NFL attorneys argued there will always be overlap among logos and colors. One of them, James Hunt, said "Michigan could say any uniforms featuring predatory cats" would be prohibited in that state, given that the Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars also have such animals in their logos.

Herlihy seemed sympathetic to the NFL's position.

If California tells Tampa Bay to wear a new uniform for games here, he said, then Florida might say "when the Raiders come to Florida, get that logo off your uniform," Herlihy said, suggesting the Raiders might "put a daisy on your uniform" as an alternative to their pirate.

The Panthers had no comment on the suit.

Bad jake never came back until the playoffs. We played the soon to be 0-16 lions the next week, and ran for almost 300 yards. The broncos game was the week after the epic beatdown against Tampa on MNF.

I'mma go old school...What about Fred Lane's break out game in 97 against the raiders...he rushed for 3 TDs I think

That's the Raiders game I remember, it was at home. Right in front of us, the Raiders' defense starts fighting with Lane after pushing him hard out of bounds. He might've even started it lol. Our entire o-line came to his rescue with our bench following, although I think he could've handled them all himself. He was a spitfire, no doubt. It ended up being a very large fighting crowd.

We wore our black, they wore white.

The stadium (Ericsson Stadium then) had extra police on hand everywhere but especially by the visitors tunnel. Wonder if they'll do that again Sunday.

On the long touchdown run, 34 ran straight toward The Black Hole.

We need something like The Black Hole. it's impressive.
