The city of Charlotte made the mistake of not retaining the Hornets and the economy suffered for it. There is no way they let something like that happen again.

Let's not pretend the city of Charlotte makes nothing off of the Panthers...

This is not a one way relationship...

What about older fans?? My father has issues with his hip and knees and often bitches his way up those long winding ramps. Probably easier for someone who just walks down to the field with his camera.

It's 8 games per year.

If your father gets to the point where he can't walk up the stairs, that's unfortunate for him, but other fans and taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for that.

I feel like escalators would be kind of dangerous anyway. You are supposed to walk onto an escalator from its origin. If you enter from the side you are not transferring momentum in the same direction the escalator is moving. I anticipate a lot of people will fall, especially with all the drunks at a game.

Funny how a lot of the people against this tax pay little to nothing to see the Panthers play every year. It's 1% on food and booze. Stop being poor.

Because it doesn't need to be.

The one guy that just called into Brett Jensen's show complaining was a fuging Giants fan. "I go to one game a year" he says. Guy probably has lived here for 5 years and still has NY plates on his car because he doesn't want to pay NC taxes and tags.

Of course we should do what we can to keep the panthers happy.

Just don't expect me to be happy about the fact that pro teams basically hold cities hostage for little to no economic benefit to the public.

Sounds about an even exchange for the product on the field

I welcome a move to LA if it gets us a real owner and we become competitive. Sitting in Charlotte sucking isnt doing much. So many people in this market have "second teams" or root for teams in other markets because of our losing stigma. We're virtually guests in our own house on gamedays. Id rather pull for a winner from afar, we'd still be the Panthers.

The irony of this post coming from someone chiding Charlotteans who want the Hornets back, saying they care more about New Orleans than Charlotte

lol

So the government gets to decide what businesses to help and which to let go by the wayside?

Sounds like the best way to continue to be a losing franchise.

Should be, the thread reads just like one of the billion bitch fests over there.
