Character isn't really the way I'd frame this.

The guy is a Vince Young level headcase.

If Suh was available, i'm sure there will be only a handful that would question the team pursuing him.

Suh's an ass, but he generally doesn't cause issues in the locker room or disrupt the team.

(might need to hire someone to chauffeur him though; he gets in trouble driving around)

Burleson says there that he thinks Young finally gets it and is ready to accept his role as part of the team. That clip was dated January 8th.

In the weeks since, Young has declared that he's just as good at Calvin Johnson and declared that if the Lions don't throw to him more often, he'll quit.

Something tells me Young didn't "get it" after all.

My point is everyone has character issues. Stomping on players, insubordination, there's no difference.

The fact of the matter is WR position is a need and for any team to disregard talent for character isn't trying to win.

Here's a link to to past and current player with run in with the law:

It just shows that anyone has character flaws.

You can fix character but you cannot fix talent. You either have it or you don't.

Oh, there are definitely differences, and they're important.

You have to know which guys are just a little odd and/or boisterous vs which guys have the potential to get themselves arrested, suspended, cause issues in the locker room or disrupt the team.

A guy like Jeremy Shockey, for example. Kind of an asshole, but still a team player. You may not wanna hang out with that guy, but you can work with him.

Titus Young is a different story. You're talking about a guy who deliberately blew a play on the field just to be an ass and who's making the kind of public statements that drive a team nuts.

From what I know, Young hasn't actually had any run-ins with the law. That's not the problem. The issue is that he's a locker room cancer.

That guy you want nothing to do with.

whats wrong with saying you are better than the best? again megatron will get most of the throws but you got a younger guy with as much ego sitting here barely getting touches. what WR doesnt want the ball. again he is immature, but in this age with twitter a lot of things get put it that shouldnt. he also stated that the lions threaten him so what you expect to happen? they just escalated the situation by doing so.plus that organization has allowed way to much to go.

You really want a guy who's willing to tank plays on the field just cause he's pissed off?

I don't.

Davis didn't do enough to get himself released. Young is not only about to do just that. He's actively trying to make it happen. And despite his talent, the Lions (not exactly a team that can easily afford to let talented players walk) are ready to oblige him.

This guy's got more red flags than China at this point.

He may get a chance to "grow up" somewhere. He may also go somewhere, make an ass of himself again and be out on the street again. Looking at him now, option two looks way more likely.

Welp, we can table this discussion for now:

Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora
The Rams claimed WR Titus Young, who was waived by the Lions on Monday.

SF was not under scope like Dtown and again when Singletary went off there was no twitter for Davis to run off too. what better place for a LA kid who has a troubled past in the NFL with teammates/coaches to come to learn from someone who was in that same boat.you keep saying he quit on the field and lined up wrong, but we applaud smitty for wrestling CBs and getting flagged for doing stupid crap.

Can't recall seeing people applaud Smith for getting penalized. People applaud him for not taking any crap, but not for when he gets himself in trouble (which he doesn't honestly do that much anymore).

But do you really not see a difference between being a fiery competitor on the field and deliberately sabotaging your own team? Really?

Happy that it's moot now, anyway.
