USA will put up a good fight in the olympics, solid offensively and as long as Quick keeps it up he will be the biggest strength for USA (something even Canada can't figure out at this point). I think defensively and lack of depth/skill in the front end is where USA could/will be hurting. If the olympics were on North American soil it would be a different story but because of the bigger ice the European teams have the advantage, which is why I also fear for the Canadians defensively.

At this point the USA will/should be in contention come the medal round and very well could get to the gold again (would love to see another N.A. final), but in all honesty if Canada does not win gold it would be shocking to me, it very well could be one the best teams Canada has ever assembled due to a lot of the great players being in the middle of their prime and great depth all over the place. But, if the goaltending situation is not figured out it could be very costly.

Justin Faulk could possibly get a look from Team USA.

For the past two IIHF World Championships, he has without a doubt been the best defenseman on Team USA.

Dan Bylsma to coach the 2014 USA olympic team http://sports.yahoo....00792--nhl.html

Is this good or bad?

Also, David Poile will be the GM: http://sports.yahoo....24716--oly.html

Chris Chelios makes the NHL Hall of Fame!

Congratulations to Chris Chelios on being elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Today's induction is the culmination of an illustrious career in which he compiled 948 points in 1,651 games (fifth all-time, most among defensemen and most among American-born players)

Wow, just did some numbers on our goalies and it's a really tight race. USA will definately have top tier goalies at the olympics. Here are the numbers on our goalies over the last 3 years:

Miller - SA: 5,022, SV%: 91.56

Howard - SA: 4,455, SV%: 91.7

Quick - SA: 4,383, SV%: 91.6

Anderson - SA: 4,140, SV%: 92.26

Hmmm, maybe Quick won't be 1 of our goalies if they had to choose the olympic team right now. Looks like it might be Howard and Miller atm. Anderson does have the highest save percentage but he's faced way fewer shots than anyone else and Miller has faced way more than anyone else.

The real question is who is playing goalie for Team Canada...

Broudeur - too old

Price - too inconsistent

Fleury - flat out sucks

Ward - hasn't played in a while

Luongo - inconsistent but probably Canada's best bet

I think Canada goes with Luongo, one of Ward or Price, and possibly Mike Smith or Devan Dubnyk as the third.

Luongo, Smith, Price would be good for them.

You're right.

For the first time in a long time, or probably ever, USA has the upper hand when it comes to goalies. Everyone you mentioned is too inconsistent or overrated.

Also, Buffalo would be idiots to get rid of Miller.
