Panthers have released CB Chris Gamble. With the $7.9 million in cap savings, they're under it.

Darin Gantt@daringantt
There were players who were much less successful on the field, but far more popular, because they allowed themselves to be known. Not him.

Carolina Panthers@Panthers
Gamble, a veteran of nine NFL seasons, played in four games before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury.

Darin Gantt@daringantt
I don't know that there's been a player who spent more time in Carolina and left less of a footprint than Chris Gamble. Underrated, quiet.

He was one of my favorite players. Just played his role and did it well. I wish we could've kept him and wish him the best.

I am fine with this cut. They need the cap space and I was always frustrated at what was poor tackling by Gamble.

CB is undeniably the biggest hole on the team now.

Josh Norman and Josh Thomas I believe are the only two players under contract atm. Not to mention the stop sign we had at FS last year.

I was living in Ohio when he was in college, so I pretty much saw his entire career with the Buckeyes before he ever got to the Panthers. When he was drafted here, I said "good choice".

Plenty of highlights in his history here, but time passes and you know how things go.

Thanks for the time you put in, Chris. It was good to have you. Best wishes on your future.
