This is a sad day. All time favorite Ohio State buckeye. Thanks for your service, Chris.

He ended his last two seasons here playing really well, but he never lived up to his talent. I always thought he was more capable than how he played. He never really became that franchise cb for us. His best years were his first two seasons. Other than that, he had a very mediocre career as a Panther.
He lacked leadership really bad. Never became a leader for our young secondary group and we needed that badly. Godfrey had to take that role from him. I'm ready to bring in guys that wanna be leaders in here.

But what is missing from that equation is what an utter joke our secondary became.
So the fact it was so tempting to throw at comically weak teammates....helps Gamble's numbers. We pretty much have had him out there with a cast that should be backups throughout the entire secondary.
I said completion %, not catches allowed. Of what was thrown toward him, he was among the best in the league at shutting it down.

I've heard he is a really quiet guy. Some lead by actions not words. Chris played well for us. I'm gonna miss him, but the future is now.

3.7 million under.
So...still no room to do anything
Not true.
Case in point, Joe Flacco. He just signed a gazillion dollar contract extension. His cap hit this year? $6.8 million. So yeah, we could definitely do something with nearly $4 million in cap space.

He might be. Peppers was also and many questioned his leadership but Peppers' plays on the field was unquestionable. Many can say Pep was inconsistent and in dissapear in Hanes but he impact the game still even when he doesn't put up stats.
Gamble started his career with a boom but suddenly became very quiet. I was hoping to see more. I remember once we were playing in Ariz and Larry was either in his rookie or 2nd year. Larry was killing whoever was our other cb in the first half badly. Foxy finally moved Gamble to Larry and pretty much shut him down the whole 2nd half. That's how good he could've been.

Yes, and remember that more moves will be made after the draft when June 1st rolls around. Right now, they just need to look at FA's that can fill positional needs at a relatively low price. I expect no more than 1 noticeable FA signing between now and the draft. It'll probably be a versatile O-lineman.

We still have the draft picks we have to sign...and scrubs just to field a somewhat respectable roster.
Gamble being cut simply took us from being over the cap to now not being over. No real FA is coming without Gross, Beason, or Williams being touched( or another move not discussed here)

I can not believe what I have read in this thread, just yesterday you people were clamoring for Gamble to be cut already because he sucks and today you are sad that he was cut and that he was a great player etc. WTF. There are more flip flops on this forum than all of Taiwan.
I think that's kind of an exaggeration..Most liked Gamble, but knew he wasn't worth it. I never ready anybody that flat out said he sucked, just that he wasn't worth the money, he was injury prone and that he could be replaceable.
I agree with most of that, doesn't mean I wont miss him because of all the memories.
