According to http://www.spotrac.c...nthers/cap-hit/ as of 12:30 p.m and the latest announced move we are 4.08 million unde the cap.

Once we restrucuture Gross I forsee that number coming closer to 7-10 million.

Geoff Hangartner saves 1.575 million if cut.
Gary Williams saves 1.125 million if cut
Kenny Onatulu saves 775k if cut.
Jason Williams saves 715k if cut.
Gettis,Armanti and Bruce Campbell each would save 630k a piece if cut.

http://www.overtheca...thers&Year=2013

Nobody else saves more 570k if cut unless done as a June 1st cut which means carrying dead money into 2014.

Players who have little to no reason to restrucure.

Beason:

We have 0 leverage with Beason because 3.75 million of 13 salary is fully guaranteed. His base salary is only 5.25 million total.

So if we cut him all he has to is find some one willing to pay him 1.51 millon per year or more and he wins(not mention at least some would be guaranteed). Meanwhile we would have to eat the 3.75 million guaranteed for this year plus the 12 million in dead money from his signing bonus.

Next year makes much more sense to part ways with beason, when the the dead money drops from the current 15.75 million to just 8 million.

Smith: His 13 and 14 salary are fully guaranteed.

Charles Johnson: His massive signing bonus, plus he's earning his $$

Players who could potentially but not likely restructure.

Deangelo Williams:
He could but it would make his agent an idiot or require us commiting more guaranteed money to him on our part. Best to leave this one alone.

He can only lower his base salary and would only do that in exchange for more future guarantee which presents a no win situation for either party in this situation.

Thomas Davis:
maybe they can maybe they can't. His contract is weird. He earned escalators that bumped his salary and as far as I know we have to pay them even if he's cut because he earned them last season but did not hit our cap yet.

If you go to the original link from above nobody else has a base salary thats worth fooling with(base salary and workout bonuses are the only figures we can lower in a restructure).

Our rookies are gonna run about 4 million this year unless we trade up or down in the draft so keep that in mind as well too.

I have always thought out of the big names it would be

Gamble - duh, that was a gimmie
Anderson
Williams

would be the cuts

Olsen a rework
Gross a rework

and Beason the ultimate wildcard. Damned if you do damned if you don't potential there...his extension could go down as the all time worst. I think with little options they are forced to pay him his current rate and see what he has in him.

I think Hangman is an obvious cut, and then you restructure Gross. That should be enough money unless we are trying to chase a major free agent.

Don't do anymore restructurings unless we have to, and then look at cutting Williams or Goddfrey if they underperform next year when have eaten through more of their bonus money.

If Hurney left with Fox after the 2010 season, none of this would be a problem right now.

Meh, he got Newton despite it being controversial. Could have been worse.

I think Godfrey gets cut. He's got a cap hit of 3.7 million but only 3 million left on his signing bonus. After this year his BASE salary is 5fuging million for 2014 and 2015 and 5.3million for 2016 with a 1million roster bonus each year. We're talking 7 million plus cap hit after this year for Charles Sucksincoverage Godfrey.

Underperform?

Williams is 9 million and Godfrey 7 million in 2014. If they still exist they should be cut next year. It is like Hurney pulled numbers out of a hat.

You talkin about Charles Godfrey, the guy who needs to enroll in the Luke Kuechly's School of How To Tackle?

i don't think beason has much leverage...or at least as much as we do on him.

he's not worth the money and we're better off trying to find another cheaper, but still solid option than paying him top MLB money to play on the outside.

sure, he could walk away from here and some team pay him the minimum while we pay him the rest, but it's more than likely going to be a one year deal and then what.

best thing for him and the team is for him to redo his contract and stay here. leaving only opens up a much less secure future. he hasn't really played for two years and he lost his job to a rookie. he's shown to be injury prone. that's the reality of the situation for him from those outside the org. he's more valuable to us than anyone and here is his best shot for a future in the league. he's smart enough to realize that.

Yeah, more of a "when" thing, but the point is that cutting them next year makes more sense and frees up a lot of cap space.

No bro, don't you know that just flying blind at people with your shoulder while leaving your hands at your side is the bestest way to tackle in the world?

I think Gross takes a pay cut this year...

Next year Beason and Williams take a pay cut for the cap to resign the Kraken (just my hunch)

The leverage we have over him is that he currently still has around 25 million dollars still remaining on his contract and he isn't going to get anything close to that after basically missing two seasons.
