The best players we lost was D. Edwards and C. Gamble. Edwards was using the "Teams have offered me longer deals" offers but hasn't signed. Which gives me the idea he is FOS. Just a smoke screen to get us to offer him a bigger contract. While I believe we should give him a two year deal it appears Gettlemen wants to keep his commitment to older players down.

I am surprised no one is barking up Gamble's tree. I realized he was injured but he is a quality CB. I know many dislike him but look at his completion rate against him when he was healthy.

I would like to see us re-sign D. Edwards, Bring in a skilled WR and a good offensive guard thru Free Agency.

There are quality DBs and DTs in the Draft.

What i would like to see is us Jettison, Clausen, and A. Edwards. Sad to say but Clausen and A.Edwards is a bust.

Gamble retired right after we cut him. He doesn't want to play anymore.

I thought I heard that. Thought it was Gamble blowing smoke.

I'Would be interested to know if there is something other than money keeping these guys away? We can't be too far off of market value that we can't get something done? Are they insulted by our offer? I mean, what is the deal guys?

Sure we cant afford those crazy contracts, but the problem is not really the money but also the fact that we can only offer 1 year deals I think.

Can't argue with any of that. With our needs we just have to add some athletes. Even in the later rounds we have to find some athletes.

I would feel better if Gettlemen was a College evaluator. Cuz that is the another area he is needing help to make his decisions. We drafted well last year, so I have some faith in the staff. But I just wish Gettlemen was a little bit more familiar with the draft.

Anyway you look at it. We are still young and learning. I would love to add some Vets to go along with the rookies. I want to be excited. Just doesn't seem to be happening as easily as I would like.

Still a bright future ahead though.

He did College scouting earlier in his career and Accorsi said they valued his input when they were drafting. I can't imagine that viewing tape on a player and grading them is that different whether it's a vet or college guy. I agree we need help in several areas so if us getting legit players 1 and 2, at any of those will make this team better. To me that's what we need to make some noise next year.
Who knows maybe we make an Olsen type trade right before draft day. Then we fill whatever immediate needs /depth with Dwan Edwards/Hollis Thomas/Marlon McCree type guys after June 1st like we have in the past. It is a buyer's market already so just imagine in a month or 2. We will be able to get some vets with a little tread left on the cheap. Mix that experience in with our blue chip guys Cam/Kuechly/Smith/Kalil/CJ/Olsen/Hardy?/Davis, Beason?/DW.Stew?/ and our young players and our 1st 2 picks this year.
Chud was a HUGE problem last year and a big reason we lost so many early games. I hope Shula is up for the task. If we get a stud WR and oline help I just don't think he has to get that cute to have a good offense. With CAM!/Stew/Dwill/Smith/Olsen/ and please God another actual playmaking WR, that is alot of talent. Shula will run the ball more and out of pro sets which will set up Cam's deep throws and runs. If we put Cam in a place to play like he did end of year last year and Rivera can work his D magic we will be ok

I would imagine the proccess is pretty much the same. My worry is more about the extent of knowledge he posesses on the current crop? How much time will he need to fimiliarize himself with enough players to fill his board? Maybe the draft is more important than FA in his mind, so he is spending his resources in that area? Which is why we are being so cautious in FA.

All I know is that this is his first draft. He needs to find a way the draft 6 good players. (Who, imo should also be good athletes.) The circumstances give me pause.

I know he knows talent. But we are talking about a poo ton of players to be evaluated. Maybe he gets the scouting dept. to give him a starting point? Then it's off the film room.

I guess I am skeptically optimistic at this point.

See, this is what is driving me absolutely batty. What is the damm plan? I have been a fan since the night they got their franchise. I think I deserve to know what the hellz is going on?

Part of me is hoping Gettlemen is spending all his time on the draft. Unless someone interupts him with a contract offer, he is working towards the draft. What else could be keeping him from at least trying to upgrade some positions? He already said he likes to suppliment the roster thought FA. What is the holdup?

I am under the impression the one year deals are to keep next years, and future years, cap friendly. Which could be another reason he has been so quiet in FA? Working for the future. I wonder what that will mean for the present?

Too damm many questions! I demand asnswers. If I say please would that help? Please. Give me some answers. There.
