Osi Umenyiora to Atlanta? <yep>

Good signing for the Falcons. Doesn't really change a whole lot though. Osi is a year older and he'll be playing with a bunch of average dlinemen, don't really seeing him making a huge impact

Looks like this deal is all but done. Cam's not gonna be too happy about this. I know I'm not.

I started actually reading the article and came accross this gem

Wait, what?!?

Why the worry wart? The guy is 30 and had 6 sacks last season....

Downgrade.

Not worried at all, I just would rather him not be there is all. Btw, 1 of his 6 sacks last year was on Cam.

Do you know who he beat for that sack?

LOL

not a big deal.

Yeah, you're right. Having a veteran that can play in situational downs as a pass rusher is no big deal at all.

That must be because ATL signed him right?

If we had signed him we'd probably be ecstatic that he could come in in those downs to give Greg and CJ breathers.

ummmm nope. not a big deal because i recognize that he's always been overrated benefiting from others on the line and he's now in a situation where he's the man. also he's old and his production and impact is nominal, even with 6 sacks.

would i be ecstatic if we signed him. nope, in fact if we signed him with the contract they did I'd be pissed.

3/27/2013: Signed a two-year, $8.5 million contract. The deal contains $5 million guaranteed. Another $3.5 million is available through incentives.
that's just too much money in this market, esp. for a back up which he won't be in atl.

and I'd rather have alexander and keiser, tbqh.

it's not a big deal because he's nothing close to a game changer and not at all a dominant player. he'll have his couple moments I'm sure, but those moments will be few and far between. if he's asked to be anything more than a two down player he'll be abused and will wear down quickly.

i might be concerned a little (very little) if they were pairing him up with abraham but that's just not the case.

this isn't homerism, either. i am genuinely unimpressed. he might have a sack or two this year on cam, but beyond that i don't see him being a factor, esp. if he's as good as it gets on that dline.

He only got that sack because he bit hard as hell on the play action and Gross did a standard pass drop back.

atlanta doesn't need a "situational pass rusher" okay

they need a three down defensive end to carry their DL almost by himself. if they had landed elvis dumervil and osi then we'd be in trouble. as it stands they have nothing even in the same neighborhood as a charles johnson or greg hardy so it's a moot point.

it'd be like a falcons fan arguing with someone over whether ted ginn jr. was a good signing and the falcons fan saying "oh yeah, well if he signed here you'd be ecstatic over what a strong WR corps we have with ginn backing up jones and white"

true. osi combined with a great pass rusher on the other side is a reason for a little concern. osi combined with poo is reason for no concern.

and just to hammer it further...they are counting on him being quite a bit more than a situational pass rusher, and i love it.
