Cam still a Falcon fan

Best Answer teeray, 15 July 2013 - 12:36 PM

Why would he be a Panther's fan?  A large portion of the fanbase call him "Scam" Newton and criticize everything he says and does (see:  this thread), and the local media drills him over a routine autograph session and prints hello kitty cartoons degrading him.

It wasn't like he just came out the blue and said this.  He was asked a specific question from an Atlanta newspaper about how difficult it is to play his hometown team.  I'm not shocked it's already being taken out of context given the media seems to love to hate Cam.

Everyone complaining about this needs to take a step back from the ledge.  Or just jump already.

Incredibly stupid comment and shows me that Cam doesn't quite get it yet.

Anyone who expects professional athletes to not have grown up with a beloved franchise is just being naive.

I actually applaud Mr Newton for having the balls to own it.

I'll admit, I do think he should have keep it to himself just because of the media and how it'll be used against him/us.

But it's nothing like you people make it out to be

Cam saying it may not have been the best idea but I know that if I got drafted into the NFL and got a chance twice a year to face the team I pulled for growing up, I am going to have a bit more juice in the tank those two games to make sure I beat them.

Exactly. Wouldn't have hurt to keep it to himself, but come on.
