Backfield speaks of "broken promises"...

I think we should be even more run heavy than balanced on offense. If we have 60 offensive plays in a game in should be about 20 passing, 40 rushing. About 15 rushes for DWill, 10 for Stew, 8 for Cam, and 3 or 4 for Tolbert and Barner. If we've seen anything from DWill and Stew it's that they need several carries to get into a rhythm. Also, Cam throwing 30-35 times a game like Brady and Rodgers would simply not be playing to the strengths of our team

I bet if the team is winning there will be few complaints.

Wondering if Hurney had an influence in this. He seems like he would be gullible to the Chud stuff since he is not a strong football guy. After Hurney was fired things began to change.  It took a couple of games but at least things did change.

I was surprised that Chud got an HC gig after last season.  Cleveland may have done a big favor for us.

Sounds like the players really like Shula.  This is his big opportunity.  No one will be pulling harder for him to succeed than me.

i understand Hurney was not a football guy, but he was groomed under a pretty good one, and had been around the game for a while. us fans seen that this aspect of the scheme was over used, and needed a boost, but why it took the HC until week 5 to see this. even in the TB game, if the HC didnt like the play calls, he has the authority to tell the OC to use more traditional sets and change some things.

like cra has said, i think some of it was because how un-effective the OL was, and the only way to even get a crease in the defenses was by running the read option.

I'm certain Tolbert knew he was going to receive limited snaps, but Chud clearly overplayed the Read-Option card.

So Chud gets promoted into a head coach spot yet he was the problem.

Doesn't sound likely, but we will find out.

Yup

I don't see how his production will go up when you have 4 guys back there to distribute it to

Yeah, when you take into account that Cam is an option to run, plus a healthy Williams and Stewart...I mean there is only one football.

They key is balance, not 1,000 yard rushers, not on this team.

Why do we balance, if it is the key why have we started out 2-8. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Sorry bub the fact of the matter is the Lou is busted and we need to call a Plummer. Not two, not three, just one, and an assustant to hand him the tools.

Pick a guy, feed him the ball. If you want the spot you have to win it but remember Getts did not sign those contracts. If the two guys aren't cutting it, someone's gone after this season.

Also, what has changed about our OL....that suddenly means Williams will be effective with a lot more reps?

Outside of the Saints games....he wasnt that good running in traditonal sets.

We need OL help....otherwise, it doesn't matter who is in your backfield. You almost have to get a little cute.

Money doesn't buy wins, it doesn't buy yards, and it caused us to neglect our offensive line and wide receivers. We tied up a lot of money in the backs but it doesn't make sense to continue to use the same plan and get the same results. Losses cause loss of revenue, winning increases revenue, if you want to pay the backfield and keep them happy, just win.

Welcome to the Huddle.

Not busting your chops. But are you trolling?

It's funny you wrote this, especially with the name you have. Lol

Did you forget what the Division the Panthers play in, and who are their best players (think Newton, Olson, Smith, etc.). Did you also forget, the Panthers don't won't Cam running as much, only when he has to (along with a few planned ones, to keep the D honest)?

Dwill, Barner, Tolbert, and Stewart (when ever he comes back), will get theirs. But a lot of it, will be passes out of the backfield as well.

And FYI: Cam rarely throws 30-35 times a game (even when he has accumulated big yards). If he does this year, then that would mean the Panthers had a lot of possessions (35 p vs 35 run).

Most RBs need some carries to get into a groove. Rotating is great for their health, but it does not help with their rhythm. If Shula runs the ball like we expect, the RBs should all thrive.

With Kalil back, Bell a year better, and Williams actually looking decent. We should be better running and passing. Which should help keep us on rhythm. We have done well so far, even against a good Bears D.

With our D, supposedly, we should be allowed to stay on rhythm. Teams won't be scoring every time they get the ball. So there should be less pressure on our O to score every time we get the ball.

Getting the play in quicker should allow Cam the opportunity to look the D over. Stay with the play, or audible. This should help our O as well.

And speaking of Cam. He is ready to take the bull by the horns and lead this O. We should expect him to look and play like we all expect him to.

All things considered, there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic for our O this year.

But the biggest reason for optimism is that this team is well coached. From top to bottom we have a staff that can put these guys in a position to make plays.

Oh, and GOOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
