I don't need to see him play this week to know he has talent.
He has talent.
I just don't expect him to be the answer to anything but talented depth at this point.

lol, what? It is imperative he gets game time play because he is a ROOKIE who comes from a division the does not have the speed, power, and explosiveness that he will see in the NFL.

All I gotta say is this. When I played guard in college at a IAA school and we played DII schools like Lenior-Rhyne, Mars Hill, Elon (at the time), and Wofford (at the time); you would have thought I was Steve Hutchinson. I would get my hands on a DII guy and direct him wherever i wanted him to go, and i was mediocre at best when i played. Sorry, but I've gotta see what this cat can do against man-talent.

Just because you pushed around some D2 players doesn't mean anything. Valdosa is not some crappy D2 team, they were the National Champions. Those top schools mine D1 talent that went under the radar recruiting wise.

All I gotta say is this: Another fourth round D2 lineman I know, Jahri Evans, went to a top D2 football school (my alma mater). He is now an All-Pro guard.  At the time he was drafted, everyone was like WTF? Why waste a pick on this guy? Seemed to work out OK for them.

Yes he needs to get on the field but I wouldn't doubt his talent just because he is another D2 pick.

the guy stood out in the national championship game that i watched, along with the LT on that team. they dominated WSSU DL/LB which is no slouch.plus in todays D2, a lot of guys are transfers from D1 schools or guys who did not have the grades to make it to a D1 school compete in D2.

with that being said, he needs to get reps this thursday. that will be vital in his development, because that is how you develop. on the field, not the sideline.

Did you see some that looked decent?  (what lead you to this statement?) I would love to see a list of teams that are rich at certain positions so we could beg for them.

I was not impressed either, but I think sometimes we expect an NFL talent on the DII level to be throwing around others like the Hulk. He did not seem to do much, but he rarely had a man on him.

yea they have like 3 backup guards that could start for us or at the very least be quality depth. And with Kug in college, they stayed away from him, because nobody could get passed him. he had zero sacks and only 2 hurries his entire college career.

I see us signing a player that nobody has ever heard of--and we will see the "Super Bowl!" comments for a while, and he will turn out to be good.

In the back of my mind I keep thinking that they are not going after a G because they want to put Kugbila there and let him learn on the go like Silatolu did last year.  Not that I recommend it, but I do not see the big picture like they do.

most of what I read said we drafted him as a project, and reached a little for him even, and now we're hoping

that without any pre-season game experience, and just a handful of practices, he can push to be a starter.

I'd suggest we temper expectations in both directions and hope he can contribute this year.

well when nick saban( you know the nick saban who knows NFL talent o-lineman) gives gettleman a ringing endorsement, i think i will wait and see how the kid does before i poo all over him for missing time because the coaching staff wanted him 100%. but that's just me.

Kug was recruited by alabama. didn't have the grades.
