Swiss to Vote on Guaranteed $2800 Monthly Income for All Adults
 

 

The Swiss really know how to kick us when we're down — while our congress is busy shutting itself down because it's run by soulless opportunists, the Swiss people have gathered enough signatures to force a referendum on whether they should guarantee $2800 in monthly income for all adults.
 

In response to growing inequality in the European bastion of wealth, a grassroots committee has forced a referendum on whether the state should guarantee $2800 in monthly income, allowing the Swiss to continue their lives of sport and leisure, unencumbered by the horrible, desperate slog of poverty.
 

The money for their socialist utopia could come from their social insurance system, which already provides them with universal health care (they pay some premiums, depending on if they can afford it). While Switzerland is not the largest country in size, its population is just smaller than New York City's. That's a lot of adults to just hand out $2800 to.
 

Switzerland has recently passed some of the strictest laws on executive pay in the world, and will vote in November on a 1:12 initiative, which would cap executive pay at only 12 times the amount of a company's lowest paid employee. No date has been set for the guaranteed income referendum yet.

Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come our way one day. For those of you who are familiar with my threads of past speaking on new global economic restructurings, you know what i'm talking about.

If we could just get the fed to give up the trillions in gold they had stolen from asia during WWI and WWII there would be plenty to go around for everyone.

I like how people dismiss ideas as impossible when they dont fit with their personal ideologies.  I remember a few people had similar dismissive reactions to the fair tax thing, but it wasnt the same people.  Also, I think the fair tax had a similar idea (bare minimum provided to every citizen)

 

It very well may not work in the US, but has anything similar been tried?

 

I mean, if you require any change in national policy to meet such a high standard, then you literally will never change the system we have right now, because no other country is a perfect analog for the US

This is a huge success simply because a grassroots group came up with it and the voting public seized the opportunity to make it happen.

 

$2800 per month, the executive pay cap at 12x what the lowest paid employee makes, universal health care.... amazing what happens when people actually talk and come up with new ideas, embrace them and try to make them work.

I agree, but this is the new way of thinking in our country.  No longer are we the innovators, which was bound to happen, but now we're also dismissing good ideas because we lack the confidence that we can do it correctly.  The generations 50-70 years ago would be disgusted.   We still think America is the absolute best, and it's still a great place, but the rest of the world (not all but a lot of places) are catching up to us or are even above us in quality of life and living.  

 

In the specific case of this though, each year we're farther away from the possibility because of rising CEO-to-worker ratio.  Good for the Swiss though, they seem to understand how people should live.

Wars, war on drugs, food stamps, health care, all of it would have to be on the board for me to even start to agree.
