games are never the same when they are free. If you paid the $60 for it, you would think it was awesome and encourage others to buy it.

bad games cause more resentment..

I will agree that the fluff is really unnecessary, but the core game play is solid.

I play Ultimate Team, which I believe is the best way to play (Pick your players, tailor your team to a play style, pick uniforms, play online head to head), but it takes some investment and patience. But you avoid "crappy" teams and players for the most part, allowing you to rely on your game play and skill.

Fluff and such aside, the core game play is excellent, and a lot has been invested in it to make it legit. I'm not sure what your issues are, but unfortunately my opinion has always been that complainers of the core game play just aren't good at this type of video game. You have to be good to have fun. Madden isn't really a game you just pick up and play.

I am pretty good at the game so I have a lot of opinions.

pretty much the truth.  Most things people complain about aren't things that hamper my game.

However, as someone who has played Madden over the last decade and more, I'm done with EA... at least for a while.

I disagree with a lot of the Madden 25 bashing here. I very much enjoy this game, a little bias, because it's the ONLY game I have and play. Is the game perfect, NO, it isn't. You can nick pick at every aspect of the game and find something that you don't like. The commentary, uniforms aren't 100% accurate, coaching staff wearning hats and shirts with the old logo, it's not a real game - just let me play a quick enjoyable game, gap between all pro and all madden, at $60 it's a waste of money, etc. It's a game! Yes, I would love to see a lot of things within the game change, but it is what it is, a game. I enjoy, playing online head to head games, trying to get better every game. I enjoy finding new setups on offense and defense, I enjoy the chess match with an opponent. The game can be fustrating, dropped balls by receivers, dropped balls by defenders, D Will running slow, which is why I use Barner, but I love the game! My online XBox usertag is: PantherPhann89

I still enjoy playing Madden online, kicking peoples ass with Carolina when they never would expect that. Can't wait for 2k to start a NFL franchise again though, it'll be on the PS4 too.

NFL 2k5 is still the best NFL game of all time.

Yes... so true.  It will be nice though when one of these days when they are one of the better teams overall in the league and its reflected in Madden.  Then of course every player online will then be using them

Greg Olsen's hair is jet black in Madden and has been at least since we got him

Unfortunately I still love to plan Madden, but it's a pain in the ass no doubt.  The menu system drags terribly, they constantly remove features and add them back in a couple years later as "gamebreaking" additions.  After years, the commentary still makes huge mistakes.  But I'm in a online Franchise where 26/32 teams are controlled by real people, and I"m building the Panthers, and I gotta say it's incredibly fun playing real people, drafting against real people, and trying to develop the best team while staying under the cap.

I will buy madden when they recycle back to 12. Don't think they will do that? Just watch and see.

my wife bought me madden 13 (or 14, whatever the one right before 25 is) for my birthday. i decided to give it a chance. spent three hours trying to figure out franchise mode, realized it sucked absolute ass, and quit before i ever played a down of actual football. abysmal game, i haven't touched it since.

Really did enjoy the NFL2k with the quarterback drop rhythm passing.

Last madden I had was 11 but I had to get 25 for Cam, Luke, Star, the black pants and the black endzones.

I really only play online and I kinda suck but I enjoy it. Playing D with the Panthers can be frustrating because they can't cover anyone they are rated so poorly.

Kuechly is literally the best pass defender. I have more INTS with him than anyone. He is the only guy that reliably catches the ball. I can't tell you how many drops my DB's have made my opponent snags everything in sight. Is it me? Am I doing something wrong.

Really wise they'd improve the impact of the Dline. The Panthers have great DE's  and they barely ever make impact plays. Any tips would be appreciated.

I really hate it when Olsen goes out injured every other game too but I use him way too much, I probably deserve it.

Why are Cam and 34 so slow tho? Its frustrating watching Cam get caught by every DE in the book from beind while RG3 as super jets.

Why is McFadden so unstoppable, hasn't done poo in years. I guess the Raiders need some weapon but cripes.

Anyone got some favorite plays they use? I only use the Rivera playbook for some reason.

Lay off the turbo, use it carefully.  This madden seems more finesse based.  More controlled and fluid moves are rewarded.  Also, holding the button down or hitstick in the correct direction firmly without letting up will give added advantage with catching, separation, tackling, hitting, blitzing, edge rushing etc..

Cam does feel a little clunky...they do give him beast mode in the redzone, basically unstoppable.  I love using our playbook for O and D.  Put Ginn in as #1 and move Smitty around ..boom.. instantly upgraded offense.  I also like putting Tolbert in as #2 TE sometimes.

I agree its tuff if you were used to the old madden with controlling a D line player, Im just now getting up to speed.  If you like edge rushing, you are in heaven with our two monsters.  Be carefull because you can lower your players stamina if you continuously use them over and over, so switching back and forth between Hardy and CJ is beneficial.

Some favorite O plays are PA, counter runs and the triple option.  If you beat them down with power, iso, short passes and two TE sets, the PA, counter and option plays are icing on the cake.  One particular counter is in the shotgun with all wr's to one side. Wait for that pulling guard and youre off to the races.

my god, that was the worst version I've ever played.  I'd take 2009, 10, and 11 over that year...

I actually thought this has been the only breakthrough for this game.  online franchise mode was really fun.

With the dropped interceptions, are you switching to the defender yourself aka "ball hawking"?

You are much more likely to get the INT if you switch to the defender yourself.  Go through the tutorial to learn how to do it right.

But you are right about the corners not being able to cover anyone in man-to-man.  You just gotta do a good job disguising your blitzes and using zone coverages. One of my favorite defensive plays is the "Sugar blitz bluff".  It's in the nickel package and it looks like the linebackers are going in for the blitz but they drop back in coverage.  Alternate that with the actual "sugar blitz" and a lot of times the QB will throw you the ball for a easy pick.
