Remember Wendy Davis?

62 posts in this topic

Hopefully we will all forget her soon enough.

You remember her as the tennis shoes-wearing tough girl in the Texas state house that filibustered abortion laws?  Got famous because she was the media darling of all the major broadcast networks.  Seems her biography is full of crap.  Furthermore, more details are coming out about her that shows she was quite the gold-digging whatever-you-want-to-call-her

Jeff Davis said that was right around the time the final payment on their Harvard Law School loan was due. “It was ironic,” he said. “I made the last payment, and it was the next day she left.”

and also chose to give up custody of her kids....both of them.  Even one she had with a prior husband to husband number 2.  What a mother.

Let's see.

I don't know her. Did her husband have cancer and she left him for someone younger? I don't get it

Thing is...that's not how how Newt's situation went...but ok.  In this case, she's given the glorious story despite a nasty thing like the truth.

Many inconsistencies in her story.  She is running in Texas, so she is in an uphill battle for sure

Don't now who she is, didn't read the story, don't care who she is....

... but in a state where a clinically, brain- and legally dead woman is being maintained by machines because her dead body contains a fetus despite lawsuits, the hospital's own records and the wishes of the family...

this is hardly the worst story to come out of Texas.

Didn't know if the Wendy Davis story would make it to the Tbox. She has as much credibility as Christine O'donnel did for the TeaParty. Riding a popular wave of support when there isn't much to back it up.

In reality she's only there to help the down ballot....she isn't going to win the Governor's race.

And then making statements about Abbot not having spent a day in her shoes.....when he's been in wheelchair for ~30 years. Oh yea, she's a winner.

Typical poo people like G5 want to hear. Bonus, G5 gets to believe Rush Limbaugh again, I guess he's still broadcasting these days but from Costa Rica?

The discrepancies pointed out by The Dallas Morning News in Davis' tale of past hardships were relatively minor. Davis has said she was a divorced single mother at 19, when she was only separated at 19. Her divorce did not become final until she was 21. She has told stories about the difficulty of living in a trailer with her daughter, but the article noted they lived in that mobile home for just a few months. Davis mentioned in 2012 that her mother had a sixth-grade education; in fact, her mother has a ninth-grade education.

The part of Wendy Davis' story that conservative pundits have really latched onto is her second marriage to attorney Jeff Davis, who helped pay for her law degree. Jeff Davis cashed in his 401(k) and the two of them took out a loan, which Wendy Davis said she took a "vibrant" role in paying back.

Erickson and Limbaugh read that story as Davis' having had a "sugar daddy."

    • You do realize no one wanted RyanCare/ObamaCare Lite to pass, right? If anything, the media and democrats has made themselves absolute fools lately. STILL no evidence Trump colluded with Russia whatsoever, which is quite the funny irony in this whole conspiracy. Trump inherited a mess. Hard to fix this mess when you got crybaby globalists and dems everywhere.
    • I hate this DG analogy so much.  It only makes sense in the context of an efficient market where teams are rational, have perfect information, and scouts are always right about players.  But we have ample evidence that is not the case.  Sometimes, talented players just don't work out.  Injuries derail careers.  Teams make oddball picks.  Sometimes, you are just wrong about a player (see Ealy, Kony). I like him a lot, but DG's habit of always trading up / never trading down may ultimately be his downfall in CAR.  It results in a lack of depth across the roster and it makes your roster very vulnerable to i) injuries (see 2015 vs. 2016) and ii) missing on evals.  If we missed on Funchess (jury still out), that hurts - but missing on Funchess when you traded multiple picks to get him compounds the issue. Trading up and trading down are both valid strategies - but I'd suggest balancing the two strategies would improve your chances of long-term success.
    • He is worth #8 pick. I'd like to see him next to Newton on the field.
