Perceived injury history? He had never missed a game before last season when he tore his triceps. That's false information. Here's a blurb on him from Evan silva:

6. Left tackle Jared Veldheer -- Had never missed an NFL game before tearing triceps last August. Started final five contests, allowing two sacks. Allowed five sacks across 16 starts the year before. Outstanding pass protector throughout career and not a liability in run game. Highly athletic at 6-foot-8, 312. Expressed displeasure with Raiders' pace of contract talks in early February.

Here is rotoworld:

Veldheer recently hinted that he's not satisfied with his contract talks with the Raiders and that he would prefer not to be franchise tagged. With Oakland currently a league-high $61.3 million under the cap, it would be surprising if they weren't able to get him signed to a long-term deal. Veldheer, 26, is considered one of the best pass-blocking left tackles in the league when healthy. He missed the first 11 games of 2013 with a triceps injury suffered in training camp. Feb 8 - 5:03 PM

What I quoted was directly from rotoworld too. Your point? Veldheer has only missed 11 games in his career, and that was after a freak injury last season. And, even there, it says that he's one of the best pass blocking LTs in the NFL.

Dude gonna get paid.

If we can resctructure a few more contracts (a la TD) signing someone like this is very possible if not likely. That's why you restructure.

I'd prefer Michael Oher, he'll come fairly cheap wherever he goes.

Oher has been very suspect the last couple of seasons, so that makes me a bit apprehensive.

Rather take Morgan Moses in the second round and pick up Collins from the bengals then we have two new starting LT AND RT who actually may keep Cam clean.

With the money we may have to spend, and if we trade Hardy, I would be all for it.

Article? what article?

The original post has a link to a BR article that is obviously from a Raiders fan that discusses not only Veldheer and Houston, but has some pretty good information that supports his theory, while generally discussing use of the tag relative to the free agent market.

Saffold from the Rams could work though I'm not sure if he has experience at LT
