LaFell is a FA. We will not recoup cap space for him since he is not under contract.

oops! I know he's an FA. I kept ppl say we could get something back for letting him go after the season ended but i guess they jus meant SAVE $$. But I know for sure we would recoup 2-5 mill for a Godfrey release depending on when it gets done

Not surprising, pretty soon half the league is going to be forking out 20 mill for their starting QB's.

The new draft system helps some but when FA comes around contracts are still getting bigger and bigger.

Kinda shocked what Jackson just signed for, was he just that happy to get out of Cleve to a contender because his agent should be shot.

Let's see, Godfrey has yet to be cut, Olsen and CJ have yet to restructure and Hardy's deal is yet to be finished...

And that is why hardball is being played with 89.....we have no money and still need to pay for starters on the OL and D. Which is more important than 89.

To me, the thing to do is sign Hardy so he gets about $7 million now, $14m for the next 3 seasons (4 years, $50m).  Hope the cap goes up.

Last year at this point the we had $936,000 http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000154634/article/remaining-salarycap-space-for-each-nfl-team

Do you not remember that? Why are you panicking about this?

Every single year this board thinks we are in the worst cap situaton ever.  Then the schedule comes out and OMG it's the hardest schedule ever!

There is no sense of perspective at all. Everything is either a catastrophe or a wonderment.

Hardy's deal doesn't have to get done for months. Who is going to be left once Drew Rosenhaus finally makes Gettleman acquiesce? And you're assuming that we're going to get all this big of a discount this year when the deal is finally worked out. The way Hardy talks, we could be in a worse position (and, yes, that is hyperbole, but you get the point).

We'll see if Gettleman's magic powder will work on Mitchell, Ginn and Cap this year. It may have lost its effectiveness.  Some restructuring may help a little, but it's still inevitably pushing lawn chairs around the deck, and I can easily see that money and whatever cap money devoured by signing a left tackle that's actually competent and worth a damn. We'll see...

We should all riot... burning and looting is great therapy for cap woes.

Well wonderment can be beautiful, and I dare say that nothing regarding football is a catastrophe.

Let's keep it real. It's easy to misconstrue and misunderstand someone else's perspective---at least from an emotional standpoint, from a message board.

Cap situation is bad. Just reality.

Might worse this year than last. We have little room and more vacant spots that need to be filled than last year

SOS talk is always silly
