#2932530 Official Panthers - Bucs Gameday Thread

ROFL where are the Shula supporters now...defend that...fugIN DEFEND THAT PLAY CALL...

On the road, with a chance to go up 2 scores. I get it...would have rather seen a shot at the end zone, but I still get it.

Great play calling for the most part...just like last season. Forget all you Shula haters!

#2912780 Only 2 of 11 NFL.com analysts see us back in Playoffs

We really should be used to this by now...I'd rather these "analysts" crap on us.  Rivera and the players feed off of it.

#2911552 Godfrey back to S? Per BBR

Posted by Smithers on 27 August 2014 - 11:24 AM

This should be the easiest reason to do this. He's better then the garbage we have been watching.

Thank goodness. The Russell and Lester show was getting unwatchable.

Lester has been pitiful.  He does not deserve a spot on this team.  Several, including myself, were hoping he would develop into a nice player.  Buy after the SF playoff loss and now this preseason, he should be gone.  He is nothing but a liability.

#2911533 School me on Charles Godfrey and defense

Posted by Smithers on 27 August 2014 - 11:16 AM

Godfrey has always been a reliable tackler, but has struggled in coverage.  Then again, he has never operated behind a great front 7.  I would have liked to see him at safety behind our defensive front.

One thing is for sure...Decoud and Lester have looked terrible this preseason.  Lester has struggled against the pass and run and looks lost.  There should be better options for his spot available after the final round of cuts.

#2877276 Name one small tweak to make the game even better

Posted by Smithers on 05 August 2014 - 11:51 AM

Might have been mentioned....but I am tired of offsetting penalties.  It just doesn't make sense that a 15 yard personal foul and a 5 yard illegal contact offset each other.  Maybe take the net difference of the two penalties?

#2734321 D-Will in shock over loss of receiving corp

D-will apparently can't hold his tongue any better than he can hold onto the football in clutch situations.

#2710761 Has this week calmed your Gettle-fears?

Posted by Smithers on 21 March 2014 - 02:59 PM

So...you mean players do actually want to play here?

The meltdown on this board over the last few days was epic, and pathetic.  "OMG...we just let all our average to below average players walk.  Our GM sucks!"

SMH.

Gettleman knows what he is doing.  And he is doing it marvelously!

#2710223 Smitty pulled over during phone interview

why do we still have threads about this guy

if you're no longer a panther then you're dead to me

It is quite apparent that Smitty is dead to you...I mean with you opening a threat about him and all.

#2697267 Nicks officially a Colt per Schefter

Posted by Smithers on 15 March 2014 - 06:58 AM

News flash dude. Comparing Tom Brady to Cam is way off ain't it. Cam ain't even in Brady league. Brady is an elite QB. Cam is good, but no where near Tom Brady good. Brady has always made avg or below WRs look good. Also Brady had good oline and a running game last year unlike us. It does take but a few seconds for Tom to pick you a part. Cam is not that good yet. Cam needs some big time WR with talent to help him and a good oline to protect him. So there is no way can compare Cam to Brady.

Good grief.  I never compared Cam to Brady, nor did I compare the Panthers to the Pats.  I clearly and simply made a point that its not like we are the first team ever to rely on rookie wide receivers.  Also...please see my reply to another uniformed posters post on this matter...Brady did not have a good o-line last year.  He was sacked just three less times than Cam.

Of course it doesn't. We may just field the '85 Bears defense and need the offense to kneel on the ball. BUT that is not what teams should strive for if they wish to continue to reach the playoffs, and compete for division titles.

Banking on a WR core (especially when Tom Brady is not throwing to said core) with no well-known members is highly ballsy but more likely idiocy-if you are trying to reach the playoffs.

Again, it is not like we fielded a great group of WRs and then suddenly they become unavailable throughout the season. It may be our strategy to start the season with no-well known WRs--and presumably some of those WRs would be rookies.

Yep...we should strive for more.  Offensive firepower has been missing from this team for a long time.  I guess that's what happens when we continue to hire defensive minded coaches.  I hope we surround Cam with weapons.  I hope some of the guys on our roster are ready to step up and can be those weapons.  Especially since we cannot afford to sign any known threats.

#2693065 What the future holds and how can we replace what we lost?

Posted by Smithers on 13 March 2014 - 08:10 PM

Finally, some rationale.  You would think we just lost 5 pro bowlers.  We lost guys that people on this very board refused to get excited about when we signed them last offseason.  Yes, Gross retiring hurts.  But Mitchell, Ginn, and Captain???  C'mon now.  Mitchell was energetic and brought a great attitude to the game.  But his coverage skills are lacking.  When opposing QB's had more than 3 seconds to throw, Mitchell's man would get free.  Ginn is fast, but dropped a lot of balls.  He is average at best, and very replaceable.  Captain made some great plays last season, but also made a bunch of really bad ones.  When not in the slot, he is below average.

It sucks losing Smitty...I love the guy, and am just as sad and pissed off as everyone else.  But how many times did people on the Huddle gripe and complain about those dropped balls, fumbles, stupid penalties, etc.?  Defenses did not have a tough time taking Smith out of games this year.  Sure, part of that was due to the lack of another threat.  But part of that was also due to the fact that Smitty does not have the speed and hops he used to.

Our core is still intact.  We need to work on 3 positions...CB, OT, and WR.  Most teams in the NFL would be happy if they only had major holes to fill at three positions.

Billick and others say Kaepernick appears insecure by mocking Cam.  He also throws in a cheap shot about him wearing his hat sideways.

worst coaching decision of Ron's career.  I just do not get it.  Even if we don't convert we hold them to a field goal and it is still a 1 score game.  Just stupid Ron.
