i'll tell you what he's not seeing, and that's a healthy stewart which is something i feel no longer exists for very long.
and if this was all that DG's team management consisted of...and by that, i mean pushing money backwards, then we'd be in deep poo. DG is doing so many things better than hurney that i don't like comparing them, but when see stuff like this i really don't like it.
we need to be moving on from these old, oft injured, largely ineffective, and far too expensive RBs we've been stuck with.
unless i see 1) stewart all of a sudden magically showing himself worth the cap commitment or 2) this restructuring being such that it enables us to move away from him without killing our cap i will be critical of this.
i don't see us keeping stewart and williams this year, nor do i really want us to. if i had to choose between the two, i would pick williams just because he's been more reliable lately and done more while on the field than stewart who just looks slow and lost out there.
I never cared for trying to extend Stewart in the first place, simply because his style of running doesn't lend to a long NFL career. Williams' issues are well beyond discussed and exhausted at this point, but he's been the more durable option. I'd be very surprised if this wasn't Williams' last season in our uniform, and we then say goodbye to Stewart in the next couple years...
