My hope is like with all our picks he thrives in his first year. I mean seriously for a player with his skill set, playing on our top 3 defense how could he not be able to make plays. I personally am more inclined to offense, but I can't deny that we have an opportunity to be as special as Seattle on defense with our front seven.

I feel like Seattle's back end allows their pass rush to succeed, we are the opposite, once we saw our pass rush step up mid-way, the defense turned the corner. The light came on for Norman last year, Bene showed why we moved up and adding Peanut's leadership to go along with Davis, Kuechly, and even Harper's leadership bodes well for us.

If we add another DB, DE, and S on defense I wouldn't be mad, that would leave four spots on offense. So maybe WR, T, HB, and a potential double dip at WR/OL.

Shaq will be the starting WLB, and assist on special teams, may see some time as a SS in heavy run sets. We weren't going to draft a starting LT at #25 with what was available. Shaq Thompson = IMMEDIATE IMPACT.

You guys are a trip. Are any of us former GM's and if you ARE a former GM you're no longer employed opinion no longer matters, lol. I'm happy with the pick, we have 8 more picks to address T, WR, DB, etc. Find your chill.

Somebody tell me the last USC receiver that had a lasting impact on a team

Look at the teams that drafted them...

Jake Delhomme/Matt Moore-Panthers-Dwayne Jarrett

Blaine Gabbert/Blake Bortles-Jacksonville-Marquise Lee

Eli Manning-Giants-Steve Smith

E.J. Manuel/Kyle Orton/Ryan Fitzpatrick-Bills-Robert Woods

Only one of those receivers went to a team with an established, better than average QB, the rest went to dumpster fire passing offenses, where the QB position was in flux. I'm sure there are other examples but these came to mind 1st.
