That last one is a nice play...makes the catch, pretty nasty juke, then a heads up play getting the ball back.

So I guess that you won't be making any posts about the OP of the thread?

The fact that you've stored this much built up aggression over some posts I made like a week ago about a draft prospect is rather strange. Cooks sure has some angry fan boys in his corner, I will certainly give him that. If you want to spend your days off stalking me, have at it.

I pretty much skip over your walls of text by the way, so while I do get a giggle out of you taking the time to type them, it's pointless.

Good, you go giggle away in the corner like a little schoolgirl while the grown men have legitimate discussions.

Now would a post like that be more accommodating to your childish attention span? I'd hate to inconvenience Mr. 10,000 post guy who doesn't have time to read walls of texts. Maybe if you weren't such a tool you wouldn't be giving me so much material to be ABLE to write walls of texts on how stupid your logic is. I like how you feel the need to state that you aren't reading my posts as if it isn't obvious by your lack of addressing anything I've said thus far. Rather, essentially resorting to "U mad bro?" posts like this latest one. But those posts definitely suit you...I'll say that much. More on par with your intellectual output.

By the way, I'm on Team Benjamin, so unfortunately you're wrong yet again. Keep your chin up sport, you'll get one right eventually!

Oh and I'm very familiar with your methodical, almost scripted routine in these types of situations, so I believe this is the point where you are all shocked and stuff that I resorted to personal attacks. Apologies!!

Oh noooo look what I've done, another wall of text...cue the gigglefest!

This thread is about DeSean Jackson, if you want to talk about Cooks, bump a thread about him.

Lol I can't bring up valid player comparisons now? On the surface, Cooks is arguably a DeSean Jackson clone. I didn't know your attention span is that fragile. Ironic coming from someone who was the first to bring up Steve Smith in that very same Brandin Cooks thread...I guess someone should have told you to start a new thread about Steve Smith cause that topic was about Cooks.

But I'll bite, let's go back to Jackson. He's a good receiver and all, but I kind of think Cam needs a bigger target. I would love to hear your thoughts on that.

Oh crap sorry for bringing up Cam in a DeSean Jackson thread...silly me. Didn't mean to derail!!

That was about a draft prospect who has not taken a single snap in the NFL yet. We are talking about a proven player here. You can't see the difference?

Really man?  There goes your back against the wall again...

What does DeSean Jackson being a "proven player" have to do with his ability to go up and snag high passes?  That was your concern right?  Is it his insane 34.5" vertical jump?

We need a tall guy who can go up, and get the ball. Stop looking for the next Steve Smith. Too many Marty Hurney's here.

It's great to be enamored with a player, but we are unlikely to be able to draft him anyway, and Cam Newton needs a bigger target.

Cam is still working on the overthrows, a taller receiver would do him more good

Unfortunately, talent, and upside won't make him grow taller.

Yet he will still only be 5'10

Talent alone can only make up for lack of height for so long. Time waits for no man. See Steve Smith.

^This one is especially telling considering you acknowledged that Cooks could be extremely talented but his height would eventually catch up with him.  Why would your above quote not apply to DeSean Jackson again?  I'm not even picking out the quotes that support my argument either...those are literally your first 6 posts on the topic.  Your ONLY knock on Cooks was that he's short...nothing about his game not being able to translate to the NFL, since all signs point to him being a productive player.  He played in a pro-style system, he runs good routes, catches passes over the middle, good hands, good speed...EVERYTHING you'd want except for height.

DeSean Jackson is a damn good deep threat and I think he'd be a good asset for our team, but he sure as hell is not a big target for Cam which is what you advocated with about 97 posts in that Cooks thread.

That would be amazing, but it's a pipe dream.

Aren't you the one who adamantly advocated a big receiver for Cam in the Brandin Cooks thread? You went on and on and on about Cooks being too short, and yet signing Jackson would be "amazing"? He's like 5'10...maybe 5'11 with his big boy shoes.

I don't mean to be rude, but you often seem to just want to argue for the sake of arguing...I don't know if you even believe half the stuff you post on here. You remind me of that guy in debate class who was assigned to argue the pros of child abuse or some impossible stance that NO ONE wanted...just trying to argue with your back against the wall using really trivial arguments (in my opinion).

And just to be clear, this has nothing to do with the LaFell stuff last night. I actually agreed with you mostly there...this is just something I've gathered from reading countless threads in here. I lurk 10x more than I post on here...

#2673443 Jon Beason: Would we have been better off?

Posted by MasterAwesome on 03 March 2014 - 04:40 PM

People don't realize that the scenario the OP proposes could actually happen this offseason. Let's say we sign Beason from FA, and then call up Detroit and offer them DPOY Kuechly for Reiff straight up!!! And hope that they're dumb enough to let us rob them blind like that!!

Would you be on board for that OP? Cause that sounds pretty damn stupid to me..

#2663166 Guess who got 16 reps on the bench press today

Posted by MasterAwesome on 23 February 2014 - 04:59 PM

I understand that Cam tends to sail balls and so we "need" a bigger receiver, but we shouldn't skip over a complete prospect like Cooks just because he's short. Cam has thrived with Steve Smith ever since game 1 of his rookie year. And don't give me that "Steve Smith has an insane vertical and fights for the ball" cause how many times has Cam thrown up a jump-ball to Smith? That one TD against the Saints in year 1? For the most part, he puts his passes on the money...it's more about chemistry. You'll see the high passes mostly when the pocket collapses and he's under heavy pressure. If we fix the o-line and get a receiver who can consistently get open, I have no doubt Cam can excel with a short receiving corps. Obviously we SHOULD draft a bigger receiver as well, mostly for the red zone...but if Cooks is there in Round 1, I'm all for taking him and then getting a Coleman or Bryant in the later rounds.

Let's see, I think NFL.com compared Melvin White to Richard Sherman; every short fast receiver has been compared to Steve Smith at some point; Cam Newton = Vince Young...let's try not to read too much into these pointless random pre-draft comparisons.

#2648955 Breakdown of Hardy's play in 2013

Posted by MasterAwesome on 10 February 2014 - 12:48 PM

I agree a sack is a sack at the end of the day and you can't take away sacks just because they happened against whoever. But when you factor in the money he will command, the amount of needs this team has, the amount of free agents this team needs to sign and the amount of cap space we have, re signing Hardy doesn't out weigh all those things. Good teams know when to let players walk and sell high. Signing Hardy would hurt us long term with guys like Cam and Keek needing new contracts in the coming years. Good teams draft well and trading Hardy for picks would put us in a great position to fill some of our needs for cheap.

Trust me man, I know; and I agree with you there. My problem is some people just can't simply state that we don't have the money to re-sign him without throwing him under the bus calling him overrated, a product of our d-line, a greedy SOB, and saying he didn't show up in the biggest game of the year when he still performed better than anyone around him.

Hardy is my favorite player and I can still look at the situation objectively and say that we're probably better off letting him go. But we shouldn't drag his character and reputation through the mud in the process...

^ No not his fault, but our goal is to win Super Bowls, and he sucked in our most important game that arguably cost us the trophy itself. Our best/highest paid players must produce on that stage. Would be a dream to get a 2nd and 4th or anything remotely close.

He was still the only player on the d-line getting pressure, even though he was up against All-Pro Joe Staley. Where was the rest of the d-line? You people trying to downplay his talent are ridiculous...

#2633419 Funniest part of the Pro Bowl last night to me

Am I the only one who clearly saw Ken Dorsey calling the plays (at least in the first half when I was paying attention)? Unless they rotate coordinators in the Pro Bowl and had Shula (2nd string coordinator lol) calling plays in the 2nd half, then Dorsey was the offensive coordinator in the Pro Bowl.

Remind me NEVER to hire you as a private investigator. I'd hire you to find out if my wife is cheating on me and you'd come back with some pictures of a trash can, a dog urinating on a tree, and a homeless guy smoking a cigarette.

My boss and I drew each other's names for Secret Santa this year...she got me a pretty sweet Panthers hoodie which I'm pretty sure she went way over the $20 price limit for. All I got her was a stupid wine accessory kit...sucker...
