In Topic: If the Panthers end up a top five defense......

Rivera either stays as HC or he's out. Keeping him around would just mean lots of needless headaches for the next guy. Don't want a split locker room or a DC who's bitter at the HC for taking his job.

I don't know, but the infographic in this article on Holmgren leaving made me pretty depressed: http://espn.go.com/n...-sale-official.

The only team with a worse record since 2010 than the BROWNS? Yep, you guessed it. The Panthers.

In Topic: Why punting was right call

What irritates me about all the talk about the punt is the fact that people don't talk about the other coaching mistakes like not calling time outs to give us a chance to score before the half, or dilly-dallying after a crucial third-down conversion and letting Atlanta challenge, or the damn Wildcat formation out of the blue when the option stuff was working really well, etc. etc.

I've been trying to like Rivera as I think he's a quality guy, but he's just not a very good coach. This is a team with talent that could be good, but we consistently mess up the little things, the fundamentals, that have cost us (and are continuing to cost us) game after game.

In Topic: Game Grades: Giants at Panthers

I might give the offense a D just because I think we did move the ball OK against a defense that is built to protect leads and knew Cam had to come out slinging for us to have a chance. The above poster is right in that some of Cam's bad decisions weren't when he was under pressure, but he was under pressure so often (because the D-line was just pinning their ears back) that it definitely shook him a bit. That's something that will hopefully get better with experience, but even Tom Brady isn't himself when he plays the giants. Also, I blame Chud for not giving Cam a hand and throwing in some more screen passes/quick drops rather than sticking to slower read-option poo the whole game.

Had the defense not been a complete and utter catastrophe, I actually think our offense would have done pretty well against the Giants.

In Topic: Read this very bad thing about Rivera

Rivera has underwhelmed, to put it gently. The defense has imploded under him. Last year and thus far this year, we've consistently lost to teams with inferior talent AND inexperienced coaches. He seems like a decent enough guy, but average coach in this league he is not.
