#2924412 Stephen Hill First Impressions

Posted by Panther4lyfe on 04 September 2014 - 10:00 AM

Ok, so I have a legit question that I honestly want clarification on. Why is it so bad that WRs catch with their body? Have their been any succesful WRs that have catched with their body throughout their career? This isnt a question trying to defend it or defending Hill, I never actually played football and sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but what is so wrong with body catching vs hand catching?

Catching with your body is a big misconception a lot of people have started saying that it is so terrible. The hall of famer Micheal Irvin has said many times that it is a neccesity to catch with you body at times, such as the slant route. Where you have a DB draped all over you from the snap of the ball and you have to secure the ball with out him striping the ball from your hands, while maybe getting hit by another player such as a safety or linebacker.

So no catching with your body isn't as bad as people make it seem. Not saying this is the way you are spose to catch all the time, but some times it is better to catch with your body then catch with the ball extended from your body. And any real receiver would tell you this.

#2883211 Pre-season Game 1: Winners and Losers

Posted by Panther4lyfe on 08 August 2014 - 11:41 PM

I think people are unfairly judging Barner, he did good for what he was given. Yes he missed some holes, but he made a special team tackle, and the one time he had some OK blocking he showed he's not only elusive but he can run you over. Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying he had a great game, but come on he wasn't bad either. I definelty am pulling for this guy to make the squad becuase I think he can be a good running back.

And why is Reaves such a hero he had 19 yards on 8 carries that's less than 3 yards a gain. Come on get the F*** out of here. He didn't do that much better than Barner, I like Reaves running hard and all, but don't crown him the savior when he didn't do much more than Barner. And if you want to really compare them they had about the same amount of highlight plays.

I'm saying all this to say if you want to belame somebody look at the offensive lineman who just did a horrendous job run blocking, on the bright side we know how good we can be passing the ball with how well they stood up when it came to pass blocking.

#2881363 Playing time for Kelvin?

Posted by Panther4lyfe on 08 August 2014 - 11:21 AM

Oh and by the way for the people who say our secondary is weak, our secondary will be able to compete with a lot of our division. Kelvin Benjiman is just that good to be able to beat a lot of them. Our secondary will be better than last year, Melvin White a second year corner has gotten better, he is a lock, Antoine Cason is an upgrade over Florence, and Beniwirkeri can definetly take over the slack Munnerlyn had, if he keeps improving on his training camp performance.

#2412858 Time to put something on Cam

Posted by Panther4lyfe on 06 October 2013 - 06:11 PM

Its time to stop blaming everyone but Cam Newton. Yes Cardinals had 6 sacks and a safety, but how many times did he run today?!?!?! 4 times!! I understand the health of your quarterback argument. It's ridiculous tho that cam newton stood in repo met for as long as he was with out getting out of the pocket. Bring back some read option. Get am newton out of the ok the obviously not a pocket quarterback.

At some point nobody else can take the blame. It's now on Cam! Get out of the fuging pocket your receivers aren't getting open your line is not blocking so get out of the pocket and become a damn play maker.

#2318838 Game Rewatch Observations

I only watched the game once, but yeah those looked like body catches to me at the time. So many people were talking about how amazing Gettis's catches were...it came off as slightly homerish to me...

Yes thy weren't spectacular, but why do they have be spectacular to be a good catches. I don't understand why people think body catches are bad. If he would have caught those balls with his hands there's a bigger chance of it being stripped. Body catches are the ideal cath if it over the middle were ure about to get hit.

Gettis had a good and I believe he led the team in receiving yards. He ran good routes and made the ideal catches.

How was David Gettis? If you go down there tomorrow can you tell me how he is looking? Also who will win the opposite side corner? I really like Josh Thomas in that spot, but who is it looking to be?

Thanks man this is great for the people who can't make it. I'm enjoying everybit of information that you have given us. I don't know if you will be going tomorrow, but this would be much appreciated if you could do this tomorrow also.

#2302056 Smitty in the slot?

Posted by Panther4lyfe on 27 July 2013 - 10:11 PM

It's been obvious for years that he's really wanted to play slot.

Ya, Smitty just doesn't want to play that #1 spot. He's has always said that he loved when Moose was here because he wasn't getting double teamed as much.

By the way I'm not disagreeing with you just adding to the fact that he just wants to get away from that #1 receiver role. Lafell is a good option as a #2 receiver we just have to go somewhere and get that #1 receiver.

#2301470 7-27-13 Camp Thread

Posted by Panther4lyfe on 27 July 2013 - 12:51 PM

Were they even hitting yesterday? I though you couldnt have full pads until day 3. It seems like it would be hard to evaluate the interior at this point if they weren't in pads hitting.

Can someone who was there clarify for me?

NO pads, but Amini pancaked Star yesterday without pads in one one drill. I wasn't there but video on panthers.com shows it.

#2299109 camp tweets...so it begins

Posted by Panther4lyfe on 25 July 2013 - 11:13 AM

EVER? Why? Last season was the only time he has ever missed any significant time.

But Stewart hardly ever played at 100%. I would rather for him to get completely healthy then come back near 100% rather then rush back. We have plenty of good above average running back that can pick up the load. I knew that Deangelo was the best choice when to keep over Stewart when that was the conversation "of who to let go". But like I said this team is so much better with the true double trouble.

#2285037 PFT: Panthers 25th in Pre-Season Rankings

Posted by Panther4lyfe on 12 July 2013 - 03:15 PM

Nobody is going to rank us middle of the pack right now, not until we beat some good teams.

I guess the Falcons and Redskins don't count?

Look the media is so annoying!!! Everytime they talk about the NFC South, they talk about how the Buccaneers and Saints can contend for the title (with obviously the Falcons). I know we haven't won some of these close games, but my god we had the chance to be 2-0 vs the Falcons, we where 2-0 vs the Saints. Then you go and look at every other game we played minus the Broncos and Giants, all of those games were lost by less then a touchdown.

We should be ranked pretty high this year in our division and conference, no I'm not saying we should be a top 10 team, but when your down near the bottom 10, with the upgrades we have made to a team that had the success we during the last later half of last years, you have to be in some peoples mind.

It's really frustrating listening to NFL radio or Espn because we are never mention, yes I'm an NFL fan but it would be nice sometimes to hear about your favorite team and the whole reason you watch football on Sunday. I get tired of hearing about these other teams all the time.

#2238610 OTAs Start Tomorrow for the Carolina Panthers

Posted by Panther4lyfe on 21 May 2013 - 07:01 PM

I think we should only keep 5 WRs:
Smitty, LaFell, Hixon, Ginn, Joe Adams

Problem is we will have 4 RBs in Stew, Dwill, Tolbert, and Barner so its a wash.

Don't forget David Gettis he will make roster and make some big plays this year.

#2228975 Saw DeAngelo Williams today...

Posted by Panther4lyfe on 12 May 2013 - 09:01 AM

Hell I'd cut both and bring in Bradshaw to go along with Tolbert and Barner

If you are saying bring in Bradshaw then at the same time talking about how injury prone DeAngelo and Jonathan Stewart is, then something is seriously wrong. Bradshaw has been dealing with ankle injuries longer than both DeAngelo and Jonathan. Bradshaw has been injured (46) twice as much as DeAngelo (25). Plus Deangelo is a better back.

#2211213 Somebody didn't get the memo

Posted by Panther4lyfe on 26 April 2013 - 09:23 PM

Not saying he should have done it. He should have!!!! But if I where him I would be careful how he talks to these other GMs, it maybe hard later on when he wants a trading partner.

#2207336 If Hopkins make it to the second round trade up!

Posted by Panther4lyfe on 25 April 2013 - 02:32 PM

I've been seing a lot of mocks today where Hopkins have fell out of the 1st round. If he does do you guys think we should trade up for him. I don't want to trade up 10 picks or something crazy, but if he gets within 2-3 picks I say pull the trigger. I wanted Janoris Jenkins last year in the first round, the guy fell all the way to the pick before us and the Rams took him.

If this happens again I may kill some one. It wouldn't take much to move up. trade our #44 (2nd round pick) and maybe our 5th.

Hopkins is the best receiver in this draft and is well worth it. Imagine Star/Vaccaro, then you get Hopkins.

I still say draft him in the first, but if he did fall to the second would you pull the trigger?
