Different personalities need to be led in different ways. Maybe TD getting in his face was something he really needed (although he snapped back a bit). Either way there's no way I'd cut him. At worst he's better than Josh Thomas and Dockery, in my opinion. At best he's a starter if he learns to control that huge chip on his shoulder and internalize our defensive scheme. That's a big if so that's something I'm not expecting, but I really hope he can pull it all together in the mental aspects of the game.
Understandable. But there are certain players playing certain position that are rooted for excessively to succeed and people are excited because they're playing a style considered foreign to their identity. Those players transcend fan-base. Luck, T3bow, and Manziel are those guys. Nothing wrong with that though but don't sell me they're some prototype that are being emulated nationally at the pee-wee level. The trend right now is fast guys are playing the QB position too. Luck is not a fast guy. All humans can run. Even Peyton can run if he's asked to but not all humans are fast. Cam is fast. Luck is not.
I do agree with the core of your opinion.
By prototype I look at it like this. You're right, no scientist is going to get Andrew Luck into a factory and clone him because he's not as physically blessed as Cam. But in my opinion, he's 6'4 240, big arm, student of the game, can run (not blazing fast) and pick up a 1st down when needed, natural leader etc..
Not every kid in America tossing around a football is trying to be a super fast QB.
But I do agree with the first part of your analysis, I think I just read it out of context in my previous post.
Luck is white and majority of people who follow football are white. Plain and simple.
Same reason that scrub Manziel is very popular. There is nothing wrong with that but it's still pathetic. At the end of the day Luck can't be compared to Cam in talent and history will show it.
Manziel, The Golden Calf of Bristol, Luck, same story. Same narrative, same nonsense and still pathetic. But it makes a people proud.
I'm black and I think Luck is very talented. That's just me though. I obviously love Cam as well and hope he becomes elite sooner than later. However, I absolutely don't think Luck and The Golden Calf of Bristol/Manziel should be in the same sentence, ever.
If I'm picking 2 QBS to watch closely the next decade it would be Cam and Luck.
I don't see how anyone can watch Newton play (of course that's part of the big problem, most don't watch him play, but are quick to talk) and say he doesn't have the impact, or even more than Luck.
Cam's Rookie season, and even the past two years, he's had to be most of, or the whole show.
Cam doesn't have the luxury of a great running game, WR's or O-Line to fall back on (which makes other young QB's jobs and stats much easier). Of course Cam and Luck are in similar scenarios (compared to Kaepernick, RG3 and Wilson). However, Lucks defense was good enough the past two years to hold onto his 4th quarter comebacks, while Cam's defense (regardless of their ratings), blew their 4th quarter leads, while Cam got the blame--though he put the team in position to win. Luck also plays in a soft division.
I agree but I personally wouldn't take anything away from Luck. He's led some breathtaking comeback drives. They are both stars.
Quick look on statics and it seems Ferguson used to be nice lil town 6 years ago but everything change after market crushed. Ferguson unemployment rate doubled and crime rate spiked. Even tho Ferguson population is only 20k people... Their crime rate been steadily growing until 3 years ago when unemlpoyment rate dropped but it was temporary and unemployment rate start going up again and you can see correlation with crime rate. in 2011 and 2012 there were 7 homocides combined. The whole St. Louis is plague with high homocide rate and cops are under pressure to bring this number down.
"Army fatigues, armored vehicles, tear gas, AR-15s — it’s the war-ready imagery not just of Gaza and Iraq but Ferguson, Missouri, a town of 21,000 with zero murders on the books in 2014. Unless, of course, you count 18-year-old Michael Brown."
Hola! Im pretty new here. From RDU went to school in Charlotte but live in SoCal now. Will always support my hometeams no matter what but Panthers are by far my favorite of them all. I was only a kid when they came into the NFL, but I remember loving the Vikings before that because my dad ran into Darren Nelson and got me his autograph. I've converted quite a few friends and ex girlfriends out here to Panthers fans which I take tons of pride in. I've thrown out my shoulder and lost my voice multiple times for these guys and I'll do it again without hesitation.
Favorite pie would be either pecan or pumpkin (if I'm feeling froggy) with whip cream.
