#892162 Full-body scanners popping up at courthouses

Posted by pittsburghbaby on 26 November 2010 - 06:41 PM

Are you saying we should only be prepared for the last attack?
Or are you sarcastically making another point?
Hard to follow...

I thought the "oh wait a minute" would have given away the sarcastic tone of my comment. Oh well.

Most everyone who approves of body scanners uses 9/11 as their reasoning. 9/11 is enough of an excuse to take away civil liberties at the airport. It's ok, to them, because people aren't required to fly. I don't know how many times I've heard "Don't like it, don't fly." This reasoning can't be used here.

Now wait! We know the thousands of people that died that day when the terrorists got the courthouses would have loved to have full body scanners there and be alive today! Oh, wait a minute....that excuse doesn't apply here.

#777141 Dope & Change: Terrible Drug War Expansion Bill Being Pushed by House Dems

Posted by pittsburghbaby on 27 September 2010 - 10:18 AM

Oh...the face that weed is vastly MORE popular and easier to produce than moonshine leads me to believe that people will not be incentivized to get legit. And for those without agricultural means to produce their own...they will still get tax-free weed from sources and sell it.

Thinking that decriminalization of marijuana is going to reduce crime is crazy. Obviously the user aspects would go down tremendously, but there's still a ton of dealers out there that will do something to keep the revenue flow going.

And then it will be a tax crime and not a "drug" crime. If anyone gets busted for selling weed, they will also get busted for not paying taxes on the weed that is illegal in the first place!

Do you even know the statistics for people who get arrested on small possession charges in NC yearly? If it was decriminalized, that would go down to zero. Know what the hell you're talking about before saying something is "crazy".
