Lots of bootlegs, sweeps, screens....

Our offensive line looks better if they are on the offensive and getting aggressive. When they are in a traditional hold your ground pass protect mode they look awful.

I agree with this philosophy. Get the defense on their heels. Right now we are too predictable. If we actually utilized Cam's running ability in our passing attack, I think it would mask some of our offensive line inefficiencies. Couple that with screens and sweeps, and we open up the ability to fake the screen and hand off to the RB. Might seem gimmicky, but until our D gets back on track, we need points. The ground and pound approach isn't working with our current roster, so let's mix it up.

I'm going to be honest, I had to look up the Coryell Offense. According to wikipedia:

"Overall the goal of the Coryell offense is to have at least two downfield, fast wide receivers who adjust to the deep pass very well, combined with a sturdy pocket quarterback with a strong arm. The Coryell offense uses three key weapons. The first is a strong inside running game, the second is its ability to strike deep with two or more receivers on any play, and the third is to not only use those two attacks in cooperation with each other, but to include a great deal of mid-range passing to a TE, WR, or back."

If that is the case, it isn't just our poor protection and running game, but lack of FAST WRs that is holding us back also.

If we can't establish the run, what would you do to move the ball? Allow Cam to do it all?

I think its possible that Gamble's heart just wasn't in it anymore.

Then he'd fit right in to our secondary.

"That they've kind of cut bait. ... I've not heard any talk about anything other than a straight cut."

Friendly reminder that the Panthers best CB of all time wasn't given an offer by Gettleman. Our defense last year would have been lights out with him.

That sounds all too familiar to what Smitty said. The way that man handles business is cold. Rumor is he offered our best OT $1M to play this year. No wonder Gross retired. Then he dragged his feet on Wharton, allowing him to retire. I know he's found some diamonds in the rough, but geez...these are the moves that make players not want to play for you. I hope he doesn't screw up Cam's future here.

Does anyone wonder if Godfrey can still play safety? Clearly nickel isn't for him, but could he slide back to FS?
