I think that the article (on CNN) is just blowing alot of smoke in regards to the gay/lesbian converstion. The Catholic church will not reconsider it's stance on the issue. There can be a recognition of the value that a human being offers; irregardless to his/her gender, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. When belief in the bible as the supreme guidebook on all matters (as it is written by God), how would the catholic church be able to reconsile this issue.
1 Corinthians 6:9
"Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men."
In order for them to stay consistent they have to reject either the bible or Homosexuals. Which do you think they'll choose? How can they accept someone whose life choice prevents them from the religions goal of reuniting with God.
There is no debate here, move along, just a bunch of people spouting off about things they do not understand.
