I think that every NFL player should be deactivated pending legal issues. Once a jury determines guilt or innocence, then they can be either reinstated or dismissed. Unfortunately, the NFL's standard of conduct policy hasn't been uniformly followed. Truth be told, Greg should have been deactivated in May until he could resolve his legal issues. Is it dumb that a bench court screwed him? Absolutely. Is there a gross over reaction by the media? Sure. But in applying an even standard for all players, the deactivation until completion of legal courses should be the new rule for all (this goes for drug issues and anything else that might cause someone to get arrested). I hope Greg wins out and gets the last laugh.
Oh and that BS Ray Lewis said this morning about Greg - pot calling kettle black here. Out of all commentators, he needs to quit piling on. Must be nice to be put on trial for murder, be convicted of obstruction to justice, and still play in the NFL...possibly on his way to Canton. Pathetic.
This mob-mentality, rush to judgment crap needs to stop. Let a jury of his peers review the evidence. If he is found guilty, then act. Until then, everyone chill and let due process take its course. (Not defending any alleged actions here, but we have a court system for a reason.)
