#1334305 NFLN made interesting point on Cam

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 17 August 2011 - 08:35 AM

Yep. Some here makie some big assumptions, like Cam can pass accurately and running quarterbacks succeed in the NFL. The only reason Mike Vick is flourishing right now is because he taught himself how to throw a football in prison. Cam needs to be feared as a passer under pressure and that is something that has to be earned in the regular season.

only reasoning Vick is good now is b/c Reid > Mora Jr.....by a large margin. Totally different schemes, weapons.....and he is being used different. Vick himself isn't drastically different.

Was watching last night and they made an interesting comment in regards to Cam Newton. In addition to the belief he should be the week 1 starter they gave this reasoning....

The NFL today is about spreading teams out....and if Carolina is willing to use 4 WR sets (could include Olsen) then it would be near impossible for a defense to defend Carolina without huge mismatches on the field. Most teams would look to defend those looks by going to nickel and dime w/ added DBs on the field........but if you do that then there is no way they can handle Cam taking off simply b/c they aren't going to win the battle.

#1332715 My observations of Cam Newton's game

I have a lot of posts. That really doesn't mean jack.

good point. you have too many. too many or too few basically doesn't really mean anything.

I on the other hand have just the right amount to support the fact that posts I make will be 100% correct.

#1332607 Hey guys no Matter what I have decided I want to be Perma-Banned

That's false, I've said plenty of times Cam is the best chance for this team and needs to start NOW.

Maybe you should spend more time reading my actual posts and not reading what you want them to say.

I do read them.

conversations go lke this

poster - A - Cam looked surprisingly well given the circumstances....I think he could do well for us soon. He looked really good.

you - he played like garbage - throws off his back foot, should be 10 times better b/c you guys said he was perfect coming out of college.

10940 post later

you - I think Cam is better than Clausen so I am not hating.

#1330695 The reality of Clausen's good night

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 15 August 2011 - 03:38 PM

lol I've never seen CRA have a good thing to say about Clausen... no surprise here...

I defended Jimmy when people bashed him as arrogant, overconfident, and kind of a dick. I think he is good kid and I think the guys in the lockerroom like him.....and that means something in this league. I think he is a hard worker, smart, and has potential to be a good QB in the right system.

he is going to be playing in his 2nd consective system that he simply doesn't fit in at this level.....and that happens to be for a team I support. He doesn't fit and is limited physically to start with......the results aren't going to be good. They haven't to date.....so few good things at this point will be said unless proven otherwise.

In my ideal world, Jimmy would start this season and Cam would sit. I don't think that is realitic though at all.....I am not pulling for his failure.....I just believe he has little chance of doing anything in offenses that play against what he does well and to what he doesn't do well (and there is no way around that overall).

#1330590 The reality of Clausen's good night

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 15 August 2011 - 03:01 PM

Drive 1 - result was a pick 6 on a horrific throw.

Drive 2 - 3 and out. Ending w/ a Clausen sack and Clausen's trademarked horrible play in a NFL pocket.

Drive 4 - another 3 and out.

Drive 5. another 3 and out. - trademarked Clausen pocket play hurting the drive

The highlight of his night

Drive 3 - 2 big plays by Williams. A run and a screen (extension of the ground game). Clausen makes a downfield throw to the endzone....but put the ball behind Olsen who adjusted for a TD grab.

Now this thread isn't purely meant to knock Clausen. Just pointing out the reality he clearly didn't play better than Cam Newton like so many are pimping around a variety of threads. Clausen really didn't do much and was a mixed bag of both good and bad during each of those drives.

this thread isn't a Cam outplayed Clausen thread either as that statement is not being made.

In all of Jimmy's time in the NFL including preseason play.....has he ever moved the ball as easy as Cam lead the offense in his very first NFL drive? granted it didn't result in a TD but Cam looked very solid behind the starting OL.

That is 2 weeks of work going into that. kid could legit sooner than most give him credit for......I also think Cam's play with the 1s should be distinguished from the 2s.

I'm not as worried as CB as everyone else. It truly as injury away from being scary bad but it can't be any worse then where we are at DT and our entire offense last year.

I don't know....

if you are weak a DT is can be a slow bleed as teams run it through your core.

if you are weak at CB the bleeding can occur much quicker......

If you are a team that struggles to score....I'd rather have a weakness that encourages teams to run on me.

Manning was a member of the "Almost" club for the better part of his career. McNabb still is. So is Andy Reid. Marty Schottenheimer always will be.

Tony Dungy, Bill Cowher and Steve Young were longtime members of that club before finally breaking out.

but again, Manning didn't meet the critieria of stepping up in big games....which you claim keeps McNabb out of the talk.

My analogy remains, if McNabb's career was the exact same......and in his SB someone returned a kick to give them the win at the end......he would have a ring (but he would be no different). Yet, you say he gets bumped up.....

#1320992 Panthers Camp: The Plot Thickens

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 11 August 2011 - 07:44 AM

This was interesting, and something that I did not get from reading tweets.

I am really glad Chud and Rivera are now getting his out of his comfort zone. This is what is going to help him grow.

perfect example of how fans can put too much into one practice session....

He makes a good point on Cam.....they intentionally made Cam play to his weakness at practice yesterday and intentionally didn't dial up the type plays he is comfortable with and likely would be pushed when he played.

So it isn't that Cam just sucked.....they were working on the plays he was weak at.

#1320065 TD has a hurt Foot Dont know how serious.?

Someone compared TD to Bob Sanders

it was much better of a comparison in my head before it hit the page....it totally pwned in my head.

......and that is all that matters:D

#1320027 TD has a hurt Foot Dont know how serious.?

you can try to distinguish TD in the same light as Bob Sanders, but Sanders has been injured his entire career..

Sanders is 90% likely be hurt again based on 7 years of data.

All you have is 2 freak injuries in 6 years to base your conclusion, and there's a higher chance he'll be just fine this year than not..

not much of a case to say 8mil is an outrageous bet to make on a talent as potent as Thomas Davis..

I understand your point about Sanders have injury issues his entire career vs. Davis late......I am just saying w/ the types of injury Davis has had in consecutive years now he is not a safer gamble IMO.

I wouldn't call blowing out your same knee once you get back on the field......2 freak injuries. Maybe if he had torn something completely different I would.

i am not against betting on his talent....but it was a gamble is my point and people can argue from a business standpoint they could of waited a year or into the year before placing a bet.

pending scheme.....TD could easily be better than Beason IMO. I thought he was wildly misused early and that sucked. I don't want to sound like I am not a fan of his.....I am a huge TD fan. Injury and misuse have IMO hidden how good he really can be.

#1315199 Does Chud. Run a West Coast Offense?

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 08 August 2011 - 12:25 PM

Neither has Cam and Jimmy has still looked better...

Anyway this was about this type of offense, yes it is WCO that has been modified slightly.

I have a question for you CRA, not just you but all of you guys that keep hating on Jimmy, why is it so hard to say "good job Jimmy". He has improved from last year, a year in which anyone that knows anything about football understands that NO QB had a chance to be successful. Why is it so hard to understand that Jimmy SHOULD look better than Cam and in many cases DOES? Cam is a rookie he is going to make mistakes and Jimmy should look better than he does.

Its not that hard to get behind both guys and wish for the best instead of constantly finding reasons to belittle someone.

Just thought I would ask you that because while I've seen some on here at least say hey he looks better maybe we can trade for him, we have a larger number that can't see it as a good thing at all; I just don't understand how you can't support a Panther and call yourself a Panther fan.

Neither has Cam what? Cam has been making all the throws(unlike Clausen)....and has been very impressive downfield (and that is the only way for Chud's offense to be successful).

again, how has Jimmy improved? Clausen could hit 7 consecutive 7 yard passes in practice last camp. Nothing in camp points to improvement......everything points to him playing QB the same way as last year. What weakness has he improved on........Jimmy should look better overall....overall he doesn't. At best you can say they are equal overall w/ different strengths and weaknesses....but still Chud's scheme would give Cam the edge based on those strengths and weaknesses.I dislike Jimmy as a Panther b/c we didn't and aren't running a scheme that fits him.

The coaches want Cam to start week 1 ideally. All Clausen is for Chud is Brady Quinn part II......Quinn plays the game much like Clausen. He came into Chud's offense prefering to dink and dunk and it was almost as sad as Clausen in Fox's scheme.

pretty difficult to make any guesses 4 days in....considering everything is new. I will wait until after the preseason before I guess about this team.
