#1019678 What If we Trade....

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 27 January 2011 - 10:45 PM

The #1 pick over all to Chargers for Phillip Rivers and a 3rd. Would you do it? I say Hell Yes. It only makes sense. Rivera knows him all to well. What you say?

I would trade a 7th rounder for Tom Brady. Doesn't mean NE would do it. SD would pee themselves b/c they laughed so hard at that offer.

that's comparing apples and oranges

college he was competing against college defenses, whereas in the NFL he's constantly being smacked around by some of the best athletes in the world.

it is apples to apples when you compare the abuses and usage he had in college vs. other guys when they entered the NFL. Williams was worked like a dog.

Hmm, it might be nice to have a quarterback that throws for 4000 yards and 26 touchdowns and we consider it regressing.

Yeah, we have people acting like we are too good for that caliber of Qb but haven't had play close to that in years.....nor a Qb on the roster who looks like he could even get into that ballpark.

I demand a positive spin on Armanti Edwards!

He averaged more yards per carry than every RB on the roster.

only thing I would say is Steve Smith's numbers are pretty good in recent history when he gets remotely average QB play. Look at his production in 2010 and 2009 w/ Moore as his QB.

also, the WRs were open for just about every QB that played this season. They all struggled getting the ball to them. Moore flat out missed open guys, Clausen didn't look and his scrambling killed routes.....and BSP only played one game (and he had tons of open guys and he hit some and they dropped some and he played bad late).

#1000928 Matt Moore: I would love to stay in Carolina

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 18 January 2011 - 06:19 PM

You no nothing about Qbing. Hell Dwill even said Vinny helped him. Having a vet help you in the Tape room on the sidelines showing you stuff you might have missed as a rookie is vauble commodity. That can't be measured.

So yes you would be wrong.

it is great that DWill got help from Vinny. Did you pay attention to what Stewart did this season when he got healthy? He was the 2nd or 3rd most productive RB in the entire NFL in that span. Moore didn't have a better ground attack.

yeah, having vets was a plus for Moore. Moore was still an undrafted FA and looked signicantly better than the 2nd rounder in Clausen. Moore shouldn't have been that much better than Clausen as a rookie....and he simply was. Just like almost every other rookie QB that took the field this season was looked better.

There comes a time when the excuses flat out don't hold any weight. Clasuen was bad. There is no excuse to makeup for how bad he was. Not when there are so many rookies you can name this season and prior that looked more comfortable. Clausen simply was bad....so bad that I can't think of a rookie he clearly looked better than (and that extends well past this season).

Gotta call it like it is. Clasuen flat out sucked. Maybe he will get better....maybe he won't. The excuses for him are just silly. I know nothing about QB'ing? I know Clausen was horrible this year........in the past 4 seasons name rookie QBs who looked worse? Then compare that to the number that saw action.

#996874 I have seen some compare Clausen to Aikman...

Since Jake Delhomme played so well after his horrendous season lets give him another shot to eh?

at least Jake goes down swinging. Clausen is just a punching bag who occassionally throws a weak jab.

I don't care about wins or losses. Carolina could have gone 0-16 and Clausen could have given us some signs of good play and I could have handled that. He didn't.

I think the Panthers are being shopped anyway. I deal with BofA and have for several years. I got some news from long standing employees that their budgets are frozen and they believe the franchise is being shopped.

Just their feeling as BofA facility employees. Possible paranoia. Lot's of that going around these days for sure. It makes more sense that the CBA issue has caused this but these fellas did not think so.

It shocked me at first but at the same time it fits with the theme of late.

the Panthers aren't just one of the most successful NFL teams they are one of the most successful professional teams. I would find it hard to believe the Panthers will be moving any time soon.

He had a better Oline..

nah, it is the David Carr principle. But a QB that plays like Clausen behind an OL and they will make it look much worse than it is in reality. Defenses know what Clausen will do w/ pressure therefore they bring the heat.

#993044 Could Matt Moore still be our guy?

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 14 January 2011 - 03:33 PM

So folks who still support Moore are hanging their hat on the fact that he scratched out a win against SF? LOL

I think the folks that support Moore look at his total body of work.

game by game.

More good than bad.

I think he is an ideal backup QB. There ain't nothing but future backups that were on the roster last year. Might as well keep the one decent one.

#991929 What does Broncos' hiring of Fox say about Panthers?

I think the fact that Denver will be paying 3 head coaches next season......shows you they have no clue what they are doing.

How many times do I have to point out that you post in them more than me? Everytime a thread includes "Clausen" the most recent post is by "TheRealDeal." 100% of people with a functioning brain on this board already know what it's going to be about as well.

Ask 32 NFL GMs if they'd cut a 2nd-round pick QB who had the supporting cast he did. Go ahead.

the supporting cast wasn't as horrific as you paint it.....in fact, it was pretty dang decent for a rookie. Good D, good ST, good run game, and a pro bowl WR (who he ignored). Cast was fine.

also, one of those 32 GMs just cut a 2nd round QB in recent history after one season.

lol, like anyone else did any better...

most people acknowledge Moore was bad but played better than Clausen. Moore looked better w/ zero ground attack aiding him. Clausen near the end had one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL aiding him.

BSP rolling out of his kids nursery and making his first NFL start on 4 days of practice looked better.

Clausen was so bad he made those two horrible QBs look like better options. Clausen won't start next year. A QB like Matt Moore looks much better than him (he did in camp, practice, and games). If a bad QB looks better than Clausen......Rivera will have no trouble finding a better option to beat Clausen in camp. The bad news, is beating Clausen doesn't mean crap b/c he is that bad.

Doesn't address his shoulder injury, which is a major reason he may not come back. Clausen would never have started as many games as he did if not for the injury. In addition, as you said, Moore didn't exactly look good in his starts, so it is possible they decide they have seen the best of him and don't like what he offers, long-term, whereas Clausen still could turn it in around, as unlikely as that is. IMO, Moore has the tools to do well, and should get a chance to compete if his shoulder is fixed, I'm just not sure it will be here. It's clear they'll be bringing in competition for Clausen, so it's not as if they are putting stock in him as their only option either.

Bradford was the #1 pick and had an offense designed for him, which really is the most important part of it. Bradford would have looked miles worse in this offense through most of the year, too. But the numbers aren't my concern with Clausen and never were. It's his mechanics and his leadership abilities, which I thought weren't going to be an issue and clearly have been.

don't need to address the shoulder injury as that is irrelevant. Moore was being brought up to show what an undrafted rookie did late in a season.

At the end of the season when he was in a decent scenario to show something he didn't. He didn't look better than other rookies in 2010 or rookies from prior seasons (which is the only reason Moore's name is bring brought up).

all this stuff about how Clausen was doomed is bogus. Clausen had plenty of chances and a team around him to show off glimpses of his talent.
