Impact of OT Bengals game

20 October 2014 - 09:27 AM

On Sirius NFL this am they were discussing why all NFL for the most part are against the new OT rules.

Both the Bengals and Panthers played 5 full quarters last week. Both teams showed absolutely nothing from the very first snap on Sunday.

Now we would have been beaten regardless bc of our D being a bad matchup but the playing a full q more than any team the week prior didn't probably help things

Perspective about how weak we are...

13 October 2014 - 07:39 AM

At running the ball

Week 6 Cam finally runs around on his hobbled ankle with busted ribs...

And he is now our leading rusher on the year.

Shula and Ron need to wake and realize all the traditional running does is make life harder on Newton, the OL, etc. It doesn't work, waste downs and puts the O behind the chains. Now that Cam is a threat we need to operate heavily out of the shotgun and hopefully RBs can gain some yardage on runs out of that formation as teams worry about Newton and he opens up lanes for them.

Time to accept we have no choice but to be a Cam offense. We knew that but we need to make life easier on him and he is at his best away from these under center power run plays that we don't have the D to be playing around with

Thru week 4

28 September 2014 - 08:53 PM

Thru week 4

OFFENSE
2014
18.2 pts per game, 2 turnovers, 327 yards per game

2013
18.5 pts per game, 8 turnovers, 303 yards per game

DEFENSE
2014
24 pts per game, 6 takeaways, 342 yards per game, 8 sacks

2013
14.5 pts per game, 9 takeaways, 301 yards per game, 12 sacks

Neither the O or D in 2013 were deemed as playing good football thru week 4 last season. Week 5 of 2013 we started our run. Can we make a run in 2014? The D has a LONG way to go.

89 thinks Cam is slow

28 September 2014 - 11:19 AM

Per Rapaport, 89 telling friends he is a slow decision maker especially in redzone and can't get it done

I assume being a young QB has nothing to do with that vs the eyes of someone who has played over a decade.

Plus the fact his number one WR was tiny and never was a big target nor found the end zone in his career at a high pace

Kawann Short

Simple and plain. He needs to see the field more. I get the benefits of the rotation but his snap count needs to be increased.

You could argue he has been the most impressive player overall this year on our DL.
