He also played all three LB positions in college. I dont understand how anyone could think that LB depth isnt a huge need for us. When was the last time we ended a season with three healthy starting LB's? Love the pick.
I think Hardy played fairly well tonight and I was one of the people who was loosing his optimism for him. Other than the bonehead penalties he did his job. He didn't get the big numbers but he was holding the edge well on runs, penetrated and or pushed the line on most passing plays. His stat sheet wasn't sexy but he was disruptive. And as others have said....Jake Long. That guy makes a lot of DE's look average. I still think he needs to mature and step up, but im withholding judgement for now.
Alexander looked promising for a rook but that was all. He was not great against the run and wasn't consistent in pass rush. He had flashes without a doubt. But its way too early to give him the starting gig in my opinion.
I think this kid is the biggest boom or bust pick we made this year. I never watched him play in college but the scouting reports are promising.
P.S. This "grammar police" thing is out of hand in my opinion. It is genuinely taking away from the entertainment value of this message board. Trying to appear intelligent by calling out a typo as a grammatical error is pathetic. Whats even more disturbing is it appears to be a trend.
Now go make an jerk of yourself in an appropriate forum. This is a sports forum. If you don't posses the reading comprehension skills necessary to deduce what someone is trying to say because of a typo then you certainly have no room to insult them from an intellectual standpoint. If the offending author in question does, in fact, have some some mental dysfunction or reading/writing ineptitude then you should feel completely ashamed of yourself for calling them out on it just to make yourself feel better on the internet.
In the vast majority of the cases, however, these are simply typo's/slang/misspellings that a person of a second grade reading level should be perfectly capable of comprehending without missing a beat; certainly not worth arguing over ad nauseam. /rant
Don't know why you guys are neg-reping; Guy was just posting a funny video. I mean she had trouble figuring out what came after the number two even though she was reading it. You can't take it seriously.
This is the beauty of the way our government was constructed. The executive branch can allow the Military to do the things that need to be done. Meanwhile the softhearted can complain about it but continue to live and be free to do so; thanks to those who did what needed to be done.
Also for those without military experience. This kinder gentler warfare is what is getting so many of our own killed daily by forces that our completely inferior to us in every way.
I said "everyone," never directly picked on you, I apologize. There aren't any viable arguments against Clausen other than "he sucks." A quick glance at his numbers and our overall record, people quickly jump onto the conclusion that he sucks and will never prosper.
It is not hard to stop the running game when the only dominant receiver on the team is double or even triple covered. We probably had one of the worst wide receiver depth in the league, which again, isn't going to help a rookie quarterback. In addition, we've always went against multiple defenders in the box even with Delhomme under center because he didn't necessarily strike fear in other defense's hearts either. With that said, we still had a flourishing running attack.
Several valid points here. My biggest knock on Pickles is that he doesn't have the locker room. When Beason suggests we draft a QB my ears perk up.
He shouldn't have played last year so soon IMO. Doesn't mean he won't find some level of success down the road.
Teeray is getting a little loose with his "explaining my pic/gif" exemption. LOL
Anyone else remember Auburn's kicker bouncing it off the goal post on the South Carolina game from inside the five yard line? I bet Cam did.
He thought he had a shot and he took it. He had two downs and two timeouts. He disobeyed the coach and admited he did the wrong thing. It was his last play of his college career in the National Championship and it's tied up. He wanted to win and believed that he could. I call it a good/bad push.
You don't immediately need a QB if you're thinking in the long run imo. I'm not trying to school you or anything, just making a meaningless argument
The Lions offense has greatly improved because of Calvin Johnson, but they had and still have a poor defense. Us not so much. I was comparing us to teams that used these multi-year strategies and did well because I like looking on the positive side of things.
In the end I think Green can elevate our offense the most out of any player in this draft and Newton straight up puzzles me. You don't believe this and I respect yourn opinion. Basically, oone day I'm cool with Cam being the pick, the next he doesn't even seem like 1st round material. It was only about 2 1/2 months ago when people were saying he was a 2nd-3rd round prospect.
Well said man. Agree to disagree. I go back and forth on Cam myself but im leaning more and more toward him. Perhaps because no one is talking about Gabbert anymore. I dunno.
