What do you guys make of the Cam haters still out there today?

18 August 2014 - 02:44 PM

I am honestly shocked by the number of callers to talk radio today calling for Cam's head. What the flying hell? Cam is coming off his second Pro Bowl appearance in three years, an ankle surgery, and he's never looked good in preseason that I can remember. Yet there are people all over Facebook and WFNZ just GNASHING THEIR TEETH today over how he played. And he played FINE after the first quarter.

Are we just going to have to learn to deal with this crap for the duration of his career? If you found yourself ripping Cam today and were one of the people calling for Derek Anderson to start, I heard the Ferguson PD is hiring.

Here is why Kelvin Benjamin should be every Huddler's favorite player in 2014

09 August 2014 - 10:36 AM

We have been pounded over the head again and again and again by ESPN and all Big Sports Media about how "CAM HAS NO ONE TO THROW TO! GETTLEMAN ISN'T GIVING CAM THE TOOLS HE NEEDS TO SUCCEED! THE PANTHERS ARE GOING FROM FIRST TO WORST THIS YEAR WITH NO STEVE SMITH LOLOLOLOMGHAHAHA"

Just like these tools were wrong about how Cam would do in the NFL, I want every smug asshole on TV to have to eat their words when Kelvin Benjamin has a great year this year. I want them humiliated. When KB catches circus catch after circus catch for touchdowns this year, I honestly hope Cam and the receivers remember which analysts said what about them and intentionally rubs their faces in it. Has there not been at least one big thread on here every single week this offseason about another big-time name predicting how badly this team would suck this year because of the receivers? God I want Kelvin Benjamin to keep this up so much, if he's Rookie of the Year this year, we should be naming our children after him and Dave Gettleman.

The "allure" of the preseason home game

06 August 2014 - 04:54 PM

I've never gone to a preseason home game for two reasons:

-Paying full price is absolutely insane to me. I just looked at Stubhub and there are plenty of cheap tickets to be had right now, but still, I wouldn't spend more than $10. You can currently pay $700+ for some Row 1 tickets Friday or you can spend gas money and go to Spartanburg for free on Thursday and get even closer to the players and coaches.

- Even if I had free tickets, I still think I would get more out of watching these games at home on my TV. Preseason football is all about analysis. I'll be hopping in the Huddle chat room Friday night and talking about what I'm seeing along with the other people there. That's a lot easier to do with the game broadcast plus DVR even with the new awesome video boards at the stadium.

So what reasons do you have for going to these preseason games? Unless you just want to tailgate and hang out with your buddies (which I DO get), I don't understand.

It could just be the camp tweets, but I'm starting to feel like we'll be better...

03 August 2014 - 10:32 AM

I never once bought ESPN and co's hype that we would be much worse, out of the playoffs worse, this year than last. I thought until camp started we'd be about the same or a tick less than 2013. Gotta tell you though....I'm getting hyped for this season. Looks like Kelvin Benjamin is going to make us forget about old Steve Smith very quickly (not the young, just the old one from the past few years.) I've heard solid things about Nate Chandler and Antoine Cason. The receivers aren't looking that bad, at least not the ones likely to make the team.

Here's what makes me even more optimistic though: our returning young talent is going to be even BETTER this year. We talked about losing guys like Steve Smith and Jordan Gross, but we forgot that Luke and Star are still on that defense. This is Cam's team finally, hell there aren't even that many players on either side of the ball that were here prior to Cam being drafted.

Anyone else felt a similar shift in their thinking since camp started? We were all feeling nostalgia for the old guys that left and we bought into what the national media was beating us over the heads with that we forgot just how solid we are. The players that led us to 12-4, 8 in a row, and 11-1 to finish the regular season are still here.

Charles Godfrey has been legendarily terrible this camp

What are the odds he's not on the roster Week 1?
