#2645031 Kelvin Benjamin interview on WFNZ

Posted by PantherFanOne on 06 February 2014 - 08:25 PM

Here is one report on WR Kevin Benjamin

Carolina Panthers - Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Florida State

There are some flaws in Benjamin's play. His hands can be shaky and his route tree is somewhat limited right now. But it's impossible to not be intrigued by the size, athleticism and upside Benjamin possesses. Receivers who are 6-foot-5 and 234 pounds don't come around often. He could become the Panthers' No. 1 whenever Steve Smith retires.

The scouting report on Benjamin isn't dissimilar to the one earlier when he game out (minus the purported weight issues). Carolina got burned by taking size in Dwayne Jarrett, but that was a unique case of unabashed laziness.

Defense wins championships, but offense gets you there. Let's please get Cam a new weapon.

The fact that Cam is continuing his education really shows he has his head on straight.

The Seahawks just flat outplayed and kicked the Broncos around tonight. To me it seemed that a few unjustified calls went against the Seahawks but there was no way they were going to be denied after they got rolling.

Seahawks 43 Bronco's 8 Who would have thought the winning margin would be this huge. Peyton  (MVP 2013) Manning, did not look so MVP tonight. His passes looked like wounded ducks meanwhile Wilsons looked like lasers.

Those are some ideal mock draft picks but having them fall to us may be wishful thinking.

Types of franchise tag

There are two types of franchise tag designations: the exclusive rights franchise tag, and non-exclusive rights franchise tag:

  • An "exclusive" franchise player must be offered a one-year contract for an amount no less than the average of the top five salaries at the player's position as of a date in April of the current year in which the tag will apply, or 120 percent of the player's previous year's salary, whichever is greater. Exclusive franchise players cannot negotiate with other teams. The player's team has all the negotiating rights to the exclusive player.
  •
  • A "non-exclusive" franchise player must be offered a one-year contract for an amount no less than the average of the top five salaries at the player's position for the previous year, or 120 percent of the player's previous year's salary, whichever is greater. A non-exclusive franchise player may negotiate with other NFL teams, but if he signs an offer sheet from another team, the original team has a right to match the terms of that offer, or if it does not match the offer and thus loses the player, is entitled to receive two first-round draft picks as compensation.
  •
  • Under the Capped years a team can designate one additional player only as a transitional tag. A transition player must be offered a minimum of the average of the top 10 salaries of the prior season at the player's position or 120 percent of the player's prior year's salary, whichever is greater. A transition player designation gives the club a first-refusal right to match within seven days an offer sheet given to the player by another club after his contract expires. If the club matches, it retains the player. If it does not match, it receives no compensation.

#2629875 Super Bowl XLVIII: Date subject to change

Posted by PantherFanOne on 24 January 2014 - 03:07 PM

I hope the weather is bad and the Super Bowl this year is a major fug up. It would serve the lamebrains right that allowed the game to be played outdoors,in a place that has severe weather problems.

#2626628 Yahoo contributor Jonathan Wagner on Nicks.

Posted by PantherFanOne on 21 January 2014 - 05:52 PM

This is what one diehard Giants fan had to say about the Nicks situation in New York.

("Nicks had a tough year but there was more going on here than first meets the eye. First, Wrong-Way Reuben becomes Eli's primary target when Cruz is covered (hence a strong contribution to Eli's INT's). There is no logic behind that. Second, to give Nicks zero looks in the Carolina game, his home state, was poor judgement on Eli's part. Nicks was not the same player after that game. Third, all those on the Jernigan bandwagon forget that the only reason he is on the field is the injury to Cruz. Plain and simple, JJ could not beat out Cruz for the slot position.")

Nicks is a special player. The GB playoff win evidenced that. He came down with Eli's chuck before the half to essentially win that game. I'll take a motivated Nicks over JJ or Wrong-Way Reuben any day of the week. Finally, remember how Cruz got hurt. A 16-yard pass two feet over his head without any pressure on the passer. If anyone quit this year, it was the Giant's $20MM cap man, Eli.")

#2625402 A Cap Question

Posted by PantherFanOne on 20 January 2014 - 06:15 PM

Stewart's contract is a hodgepodge of contract language and bonuses. If the team cuts him, I believe it's the same as declining his option bonus. Same thing would apply for him being traded or retiring(unless it's got offset language).

Means his contract values would change going forward starting with this year. He would get a guaranteed salary of roughly 9 million dollars and his cap hit would expand from 5.5 million to 12.3 million.   It might be the worst contract I've ever seen in professional sports. lol  .

Damn you Marty Hurney, you sorry sack of poo.

#2625315 NFL Commish may do away with extra point

Posted by PantherFanOne on 20 January 2014 - 05:42 PM

If it's not broken, then don't try to fix it. The NFL Commish is going to keep screwing with the game until it is no longer the football game we came to love and support.

If he wants to make a positive change, he should get NFL officials that call  consistent games, not ones that look like they are staged or fixed.Seems it gets worse every year.

#2620089 JR takes out full page ad in the Observer

Posted by PantherFanOne on 17 January 2014 - 01:21 PM

I guess we should all be satisfied then for hobbling into the playoffs with a rag tag one man wrecking crew offense and hope it happens to us again in another 5 years. You play to win super bowls, not just making the playoffs. There is no reason teams like the 9ers and seattle that have the same cap as us should have that many skill players and us barely having a starting caliber WR. Richardson should shove his add up where the sun don't shine.

Stop being such a whining prick. If you don't like the direction this team is headed, then take your ungrateful ass and root for another team.

#2616959 "At Least We're Not..."

At least we're not the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Lack of talent, lack of coaching and lack of management... All they have is their fans and that won't last for long.....
