#2427520 Oh, The Panthers got another cheap win over a another bad team.

Posted by Jacket60 on 14 October 2013 - 07:58 AM

While the Vikings defense is pretty bad, their offense had been putting points on the board this year.  They came into yesterday's game 3rd in the league in points per game with about 29.  Mainly due to Peterson running wild on people.  But we held them to 10(should have been 3, garbage time TD on backups), and we shut down the best RB in the league.  That's what people need to be taking from this.  We did what we were supposed to against their defense, and held a top 3 scoring offense to 10 points.

What happens when the make adjustments at half time to slow him down like Arizona did?

Minnesota's defense isn't nearly as good as Arizona's defense.

I'm expecting Olsen to have a big game.  Tight Ends have been giving the Vikings trouble all year.

#2301185 Any David Gettis news?

Posted by Jacket60 on 27 July 2013 - 01:44 AM

Okay, Gettis was a great rookie success story. Injuries have plagued his career. Time to move on.

Yes, time to move on because nobody has ever come back from an injury before and still played well.

Oh wait

Reminds me of the comments UDFAs make when you cut them in Madden.

#2171453 Ted Ginn joins the Panthers on a one-year deal

Posted by Jacket60 on 22 March 2013 - 05:10 AM

Too many of you writing off Gettis. He had 500 yards and 3 TDs his rookie season with Clausen, Moore and Brian St Pierre throwing him the ball. I'm interested to see what he can do with Cam. I don't think he was ever in any doghouse last year, I think it was more of a precautionary thing with his knee and all. He should be ready to go at Training Camp this year.

#2057736 Panthers schedule next year looks mighty tasty

Until you realize that just because some of those teams aren't that good this year, doesn't mean they won't be good next year.

#2024570 When was the last time we beat a quality opponent?

Deangelo's tight rope? You mean the gifted TD that will be his first, last and only this season?

Deangelo has 3 TDs this year.

#2018274 DeAngelo has got to go

Posted by Jacket60 on 27 November 2012 - 12:05 AM

Stewart was 8 carries for 27 yards. That's fuging dreadful.

if William's 11 yard run doesn't get called back, he had a better game than Stewart.

Both of our backs are good. Scheme and blocking are not.

This. Can't believe what I'm reading in this thread. The problem isn't Williams.

#1970575 DeAngelo Williams Trade Talks

Posted by Jacket60 on 29 October 2012 - 12:26 PM

Because anything that relieves the team of that bad contract will benefit the new GM and give him some ability to turn this team around.

It's only a bad contract because they aren't using him. I mean, prior to yesterday's game, the guy had 8 carries combined in the previous two. When you give these guys touches, they will produce. The talent on this team isn't as bad as panther fans make it out. The problem is the coaching. And the biggest weakness right now is the offensive line IMO. I just don't think trading one of your best offensive weapons is the right move to make the team any better. They need to be using him more, and changing the offense is a step in the right direction.

Hopefully they've put in the I formation and run it down their throats from under center.

#1363211 Pat Yasinskas "unleash Newton"

Posted by Jacket60 on 31 August 2011 - 10:58 PM

I don't understand this mentality that just because Newton is a QB, he's more prone to injury. He's bigger than most other QBs. Bigger than Vick. About the same as Big Ben and Freeman. As stated before, he's of similar size, if not bigger than most LBs. Bigger than safeties and corners. I'd also imagine Cam isn't very weak or fragile. I'm sure the guy is pretty strong and I'm sure he can take a hit.

He's also bigger than Deangelo and Stewart. Both of them will get 20-30 carries a game and everyone accepts this and doesn't worry about season ending injuries as much because they are labeled as running backs. But if Cam runs it a few times, it's too risky, he's gonna get killed, destroyed, taken off on a stretcher, career over.

Just because he is a QB? While this would be true for most QBs, it doesn't apply to Newton so much. If I only had one fear, my biggest fear would be someone diving straight into his knees, but hell that could happen to anyone. And it would be more likely to happen in the pocket than it would down field.
