In Topic: Ron Rivera: Hot Seat?

I don't think anyone is prepared to give anyone a free pass this year, but this is a team that's still hamstrung by Hurney's terrifying idiocy.

I have a hard time seeing Rivera or Gettleman on the hot seat for the 2014-2015 season, even if the wheels come off. But as we head into the next couple of seasons and the ramifications of big, old contracts are lessened, that might be a different story.

I can't help but pull for the home town underdog. Really hope he makes the squad.

And there's nothing wrong with that. Everyone likes a feel good story.

But to labour under this unfounded notion that a guy from the practice squad is ready to start Game 1 over a healthy guy who caught 10 touchdowns the previous year borders on ludicrous.

I only ask because, if I were a head coach or GM, I wouldn't want a starter (or even a key back up) getting hurt by some long-shot trying make a name for himself. Desperation (for a job) can make a man do crazy things.

A lot of you are really high on this guy, and I hope you're right. It'd be nice to see an undrafted project from the practice squad develop in to something legit, even if it's a second stringer.

I'm just not prepared to believe he's ready to start in the NFL.

Right now I see him, at best, to be a WR3. He seems to have the kind of hands and size you want for that kind of thing, particularly for your 2 minute and red zone offense.

But he has tons more to prove to me before he starts. And that all starts with being a role player against starters and doing that exceptionally well.

In Topic: Out of market Huddlers - how are you watching the Panthes games this year?

Is there a way to claim I'm out of country in order to still see all blackout games? Someone in the know help me out.

They were talking about that earlier in the thread and mentioned using a VPN.

The only problem with that is that you may also have to provide a local (meaning foreign) billing address when paying for the subscription for that to work. I'm sure there are dummy addresses out there to use, but considering you may have limited billing options depending on what country you plan on spoofing, I could see things getting a little mucked up in the process.

I'm not saying it isn't worth it to do the research. And even if it is a bit of a dodgy notion, at least you are paying for the product in a round about way.
