#2828167 Pretty high pick for a Guard

Posted by whatever on 23 June 2014 - 03:46 PM

That's insane. Look at who the Rams drafted with those picks. They raped the skins on the draft picks alone. What they did with those picks has been equally impressive.

Sure looks like the inept Rams blew what should have been a franchise changing trade with the Redskibs. But, they have parlayed multiple picks into hot garbage.

agreeing with anything that Florio says is always a bad idea. Greg Robinson will be a very good OL.

He was so dominant that nobody drafted him.

you guys forget, Byron Bell was a dominate LT in college, he was switched to the right side here because Carolina had Jordan Gross.  Hes been playing out of position. Bell has always been the successor to Gross.

Lets all forget that Cam literally gets himself sacked 5-10 times a season. The O line may be poor but Cam doesnt do them any favors

Let's also forget how many times he avoids what would've been quick, easy sacks by avoiding the pressure.

#2756465 Ashley Fox article on Cam Newton

yes, I was referring to this current moment during this off season.

There os no hope for you.

it doesn't matter when you were referring to. feel free to start listing those NFL teams that are in worse shape at both Tackles and/or their depth chart at WR.....or just rattle off the names of all of this talent that Cam's been surrounded with. When he finally has a decent OL and dependable WRs, he'll reach his full potential and it'll be a sight to see.

Cam has talent around him. Has had talent around him. Will continue to have talent.

I do love the excuse that he's had no talent around him.

excuse for what? 2 pro bowls and 12-4 last year?

as far as talent goes, i don't see how anyone could look at the current OL and WRs and say that he has talent to work with. if there's an OL or WR group in the NFL that's worse, feel free to name them.

Byron Bell at LT? GMAFB

#2559956 The offense needs to improve

The defense kept the win within reach the entire game. The offense struggled for most of the game but came through in the end. Wins like this(home field and a bye on the line) should have everyone stoked about this team's potential in the playoffs. It was the biggest win in a season that has had several big wins. Even with the issues on the OL and at WR, you have to love this team's chances in the playoffs.

What's this "we" stuff? What position do you play....or are you on the coaching staff? It's a pretty safe bet that you aren't a cheerleader.

We have to look ahead in the playoffs ...if we are stale like this in the playoffs we will be heading home...we can celebrate but lets be obvious here

#2559126 What a Turnaround By Cam

Posted by whatever on 22 December 2013 - 04:30 PM

OK, he struggled for most of the game. Does that make calling for him to be benched any less idiotic? Should the Saints have benched Brees? He threw twice as many picks as Cam did and he was on his back half the game.

Cam would even tell you he struggled. I don't even care, like I said, he came through, and we won.

You've got a busy night ahead of you.

Whelp ...no way we win this one...offense coaching, some missed catches, all around fug up by the offense.....(if we win I will give pie to everybody on this board) if it takes me all night.

#2519771 Who is now an Auburn fan because of Cam Newton

Posted by whatever on 01 December 2013 - 03:35 AM

It's kind of strange to see those words coming from a poster named Kevin Greene(he went to Auburn and still comes to games from time to time).

Auburn won't ever be my favorite College team.

#2423782 "Could Dave Gettleman's plans for the Panthers future not include Cam...

Remember, going into the 4th quarter we have been in every game--less than a TD or leading--There are lesser qb's on this list than Cam Newton.  Cam is somewhere in the bottom 12.  His QB rating is terrible in the fourth quarter---lower than the other 3 quarters when he had the same OL and WRs.

Can you find QBs on this list with a weak line and below average WRs?

Why is Cam worse in the fourth quarter?  Is it because the clock comes into play--adding pressure and eliminating his run option more?  2 minute drills do not feature much read option or even play action--it requires a QB to manage the game, sit in the pocket, read defenses, etc.

2-14 is no coincidence.  If we are to win, we better wrap it up in the first 3 quarters.

Stop blaming the OL and WRs--sure they could be better.  Manning is 37 years old and his LT and C are out for the year.  His other linemen are castoffs and low draft picks.  His WR corps is average at best. Sure he added Weiker, but Smitty is better.  Was Lafell better than Decker 2 years ago?  About the same. Manning has a speed WR with a history of inconsistent hands.  We have Ginn, a first round pick.  Why is Mannng's qb rating 149 in the fourth quarter and Cam can't crack the top 20?

Must be the coaching, the oline, the unusual amount of rain we got this summer, the government lock down, Jupiter and Uranus are aligned, racism, and the fact that we don't wear all black enough.

This offseason:  Manning was watching hundreds of hours of film and developing chemistry with his WRs by throwing to them.

What was Cam doing?  Leading the crowd at Auburn basketball games. Icon and entertainer, yes.  Franchise QB?  What makes anyone think he is?

Now ignore the stats that matter (QB rating, wins/losses) and blame external variables that you cannot prove.  I assure you that Gettlemen will not do that.

Denver's WRs are "average, at best"? are you seriously that dense? they have one of the best receivings corps in the league.

#1511042 Cam Newton speaks in Roll Tide/War Eagle Documentary (Clip inside)

Posted by whatever on 09 November 2011 - 03:32 PM

Apparently you didn't watch the special then.

why's that? i saw the special. did i miss the segment where Cam returned his Heisman?

i'm not saying that this 30 for 30 was an attack on Cam. all i'm saying is that epsn spent almost a full year trying to make Cam Newton seem like a horrible person. if there was *any* truth to the crap that they were spewing, it'd be easier to understand their motivation. i'd like to think that, by now, most Carolina Panthers fans realize that he's not the person that the media tried so hard to convince viewers that he was. if anything, he's the polar opposite of that person.

#1484289 Cam Newton Changing the way the quarterback position is played.

Posted by whatever on 25 October 2011 - 06:11 PM

I don't know that his skill set is as unique as people think. We've had guys like Steve Young, John Elway and others that were just as good a running threat as Newton (honestly, Steve Young was probably a more dangerous runner).

But accepting that notion, it's odd when people posit that one unique player will "change the game". Look at what Peyton Manning can do. That would certainly be 'game changing"...if there were a bunch more Peyton's out there on the horizon.

Reality: There might be one, and it took over 20 years for that one to show up.

How long before another player like Newton shows up?

i get what you're saying about dual threat QBs, but Steve Young, Vick etc weren't as big or bigger than 7-8 of the defensive players that they were lining up against....while also having 4.5 speed.

before the draft, there were so many talking heads saying that Cam's game didn't translate to the NFL, he wouldn't be able to run like he did in college, etc. the reality is that he's going to be the nightmare for DCs that Vick was supposed to be. if they stack the box, he has the arm to make teams pay. drop 7-8 into zone coverage and he'll move the chains with his legs with 15-20 yard runs.

i think that he'd prefer to be seen as a "traditional" drop back passer but at the same time, he'll do whatever he needs to do to move the chains or get into the end zone.
