This my friends is the mindset of a typical no-winning-seasons-in-back-to-back-years-in-franchise-history Panthers fan.

In what profession can you utterly fail for an entire year and get a free pass for it?

Are you serious? The Panthers are a business. They're making a profit this year whether they win or lose so the business is technically "successful."

Don't buy into the hype that he knows what he's doing because you see him talk and you think Tony Soprano. Dave Gettleman is an idiot that was passed over time after time for GM opportunities because competent owners knew he wasn't the right man for the job.

We have no depth anywhere. The best free agent signed this offseason was literally Joe Webb.

What he has done this year is set this team back to 2010 Clausen/Fox/Lockout levels. And for what? Did a 12-4 NFC South winning team really need imploding?

FIRE DAVE GETTLEMAN

YEAH! He should've signed free agents with all that money he has to work with!

I hate to keep beating this dead horse, but keeping Hurney around for those 2 extra years has absolutely crippled this franchise. We have no idea what Gettleman can do with a decent cap situation, but I'm actually pretty impressed what he's done so far with limited resources. Hurney's desperate attempts to save his job with short-term fixes in 2010 and 2011 set this team back years.

#2406977 Six UT players unanimously say they'd want to play for Carolina

Posted by SnarkAttack on 03 October 2013 - 06:50 PM

My business writing class has six UT football players in it, including quarterback Nathan Peterman if there are any Vol fans in here. The professor is a huge football fan and loves talking to the players. Just a few minutes ago he asked them which pro football team they'd like to play for if they had the choice. Without hesitation, all six of them said Carolina. I immediately quipped up and asked them why. They said that Ron is a players' coach and he is well regarded by college players across the nation; that the team has great facilities; Charlotte is a nice city; and the organization is very player-friendly.

Not making this up. Guess we have that going for us

Business writing, eh? "Quipped" isn't the word you're looking for there.

haha i remember when that video was being passed around.  that was before the bills preseason game in 2006.

God - go back to Buffalo then. It's a preseason game. Against the fuggin' BILLS. We REALLY do have better things to do. Seriously.

Then you haven't been a Panthers fan for very long...

Came here to say this. In a less pointed manner. But still.

This dude apparently took a TON of time to draw makr a sketch album of various NFL matchups - pretty cool. Here's one of them.

#1705342 The Best/worst Of Marty Hurney

Posted by SnarkAttack on 26 March 2012 - 10:52 PM

Dwayne Jarret wasn't a bad pick at all. He was great in college and was considered one of the top three WRs in his class. Would've been snatched up if we didn't draft him. Not predicting the future doesn't make you a bad GM.

Um, what? That's the entire challenge for talent evaluators - deciphering which 'great' college players have attributes that will carry over to the NFL. Jarret was a 2nd round pick who didn't produce in the NFL = bad pick. Just becaue he would've been "snatched up" (and who knows if he would have?) doesn't mean he's a good pick. By your logic, JaMarcus Russel, Ryan Leaf, Charles Rogers and Akili Smith weren't bad picks because they were great in college.

#1320552 8/10 Practice Thread

Posted by SnarkAttack on 10 August 2011 - 08:44 PM

Growing pains happen but it sounds like he still had some decent stuff to show for and a majority of really bad decisions. I'm not going to pass any judgement until we start seeing this squad play other teams.

Its good to hear about Clausen as others mentioned so I'm hoping this drives Cam to step his game up even more.

Also about Gettis: They used the word tweaked so maybe he just has some bad cramps. That makes sense given the whole training camp situation this year. I'm crossing my fingers

HA! Dude if you think a "tweaked knee" means muscle cramps, you are truly the eternal optimist and I envy your outlook on life. I'm guessing a sprain or MCL tear, FWIW.....

#1293101 Hurney's Drafts (Put in Perspective)

Posted by SnarkAttack on 29 July 2011 - 01:23 PM

At least 3 (maybe more) recent 1st rounders have been cut today, including 2 defensive ends (D. Harvey, J. Anderson) and a WR (Jenkins). Just kind of puts it into perspective when we complain about Hurney's drafting. Does he make dumba$$ trades sometimes? Of course. But he rarely misses on a first rounder and he's getting Pro Bowl productivity from 3 former 3rd rounders (Smitty, CJ, Anderson) as well as key contributions from a number of late rounders, including Hardy (6 rd), Gettis (6 rd), Munnerlyn (7 rd), Schwartz (7 rd?).
Just sayin'....

Also, as a side note, the Falcons passed on Revis, Beason and Patrick Willis to "snag" Anderson.

As a post-side note, there are a ton of terrible players that came out of the 1st round of 2007 - should make us even happier we picked up Beason.....

I'll go Charles Johnson - we need to free up some cap space...

#1264005 How Hogan Fits in with the Panthers..

Posted by SnarkAttack on 12 July 2011 - 12:00 PM

Disclaimer: This article is more than 2 months old and is written on a WVU fan blog site. That being said, I'm kind of intrigued with this dude - he *reportedly* has first-second round talent with a ton of character issues, so we'll just have to see how he adjusts. Also, who better to write an analysis than the people who have been watching his every move for the past 3 years?
