RIP Anthony Bourdain

What a tragedy to his family...especially his 11 yr old daughter.  This is a dark painful legacy that she has to carry at such a young age that will haunt her forever.

Don't know the circumstances, but if the poo gets too deep, walk away. Live to fight another day. Dave Chapelle did it, he's still here.

Your children should be your reason to LIVE, no matter how shite your life gets with your spouse job etc, at the very least be around for your kids.

I respect and admire Bourdain  both as a Chef and Writer, but as a father myself that was seriously f*cked up thing to do to his daughter.

I don't think I will be able to look back on him with the same respect and admiration because of that.

Sitting out by the pool this evening discussing this exact thing. I just don’t get it. I’m a bit jaded with him now also. Really looked up to him before this.

I hate to admit it, but I as well just don't get it.  I have countless eps of No Reservations on my PC and both Kitchen Confidential and Medium Raw in a rather small/mid-sized home library.  I understand people can have inner demons and serious mental issues but this is just hard to take.  I'm going to have a difficult time ever even rewatching one of my favorite TV personalities of all time.

Definitely a harder pill to swallow celeb death wise than any in a while.  Robin Williams, Anthony Bourdain, it just boggles the mind.  Feel so bad for his daughter.  I know there needs to be a level of respect in these type of situations but suicide, especially given his situation, is just so crazy to me.

You can understand loneliness, regret, pain, shame, etc. but to sit in the bad feelings and let it brew to the point of terminating your own life is just mind boggling.  I'm not religious or anything but I hope everyone out there is doing well; let this be a moment. @Johnny Rockets is right above: jaded is the right word.  I'm quite sad about this but I'm not in the mood to memorialize him.  This stinks :/

Loved Bourdain and have for 10+ years now.  This is the first celebrity suicide that's really hit me I think...and weirdly finding solace in the fact that it seems he was so well respected and loved by so many (I always thought it was just me and a few other Travel Channel fans back in the day).

I understand the take hating on his suicide for his daughter's sake, but at the same time, no clue what his life was actually like. It just fuging sucks all the way around.

The research also makes clear that in more than half of those deaths, the individuals were not diagnosed with a mental health condition. It’s a hidden problem for many people.

According to Dr. Anne Schuchat, principal deputy director of the CDC:

"These findings are disturbing. Suicide is one of the top 10 causes of death in the US right now, and it's one of three causes that is actually increasing recently, so we do consider it a public health problem—and something that is all around us." Alzheimer's and drug overdoses are the other two causes that are on the rise, according to Schuchat.

In the year 2016 alone, 45,000 people died from suicide and Schuchat warned, “Our data show the problem is getting worse.”
